Game development is more easily accessible to everyone now than they ever were. You can download Unreal Engine 4, Unity 5, CRYENGINE 5 and the open-source Godot 3 free-of-charge and work on your own independent games. There are educational programs that teach students how to develop their own video games and get a head start.

Also, it HAS happened to film. I made a short film with the help of some friends with a DSLR, a month of Premiere Pro, and some bus fare to get around, and it actually turned out pretty well. Obviously more technical aspects of film making like lighting, prop work, and sound design are still quite expensive, but film is easier to make now than it ever has been. Movies shot completely on iPhones are getting widespread distribution

The point is that if you have an idea for a movie, it is easier and cheaper now to make it than it ever has been in the past. That is an objective truth. Movies with very low budgets are getting increasingly hard to tell apart from expensive ones, depending on the subject matter which determines ease of filming.

There have been tons of low quality trash in every artform since their respective beginnings. Low quality trash just has a much lower likelihood of being remembered years down the line. It distorts the past and makes it seem a lot more ideal than it is. Our ironic obsession with bad art is a relatively new thing, societally speaking.
I am not going to argue that most commercialized music is straight trash, and I won't deny that Soundcloud is mostly garbage as well (although I think Soundcloud's structure itself is partially responsible for that. Bandcamp is a better alternative) but that's mostly because the internet allows you to hear songs from artists who have no business being heard by anybody. It raises the bar of exposure.

2017, Breath of the Wild came out and it's objectively better than OoT, a remaster of the original StarCraft came out, again it's literally a better version of the game. Half-Life 3 or ep3 kinda got released a week ago if you think about it. I've never played a MGS game but I'm pretty sure one just came out this year and everyone said it's great.
