They're separate separate series within the same franchise. Just because Atlus USA decided to add SMT to the title of the games for brand recognition (which they've stopped doing completely now) doesn't mean a thing.

That said, I do agree that Persona will introduce more people to SMT but it might disappoint those people for not being enough like Persona. A really common complaint for SMT IV among reviewers was that it wasn't more like Persona.

In what context? If you're talking straight up dungeon crawling i'd argue its more involved then most JRPGs which only have you walk in 8 directions on an overworld/map

P5 introduced stealth, sneaking up behind enemies for advantage encounters, Hiding out of sight for scripted enemies, simple dungeon puzzles to progress further, These are all staples of basic exploraton yet most JRPGs don't even try to do half of this and settle on random encounter,. If anything I'd say its refreshing for a turn based series. Nobody is sitting here complaining P5 isn't an A-RPG like Tales of because its not designed to be.

The battles are braindead, hit weakness and rush attack is still 90% of the game. The dungeons are very simple, no real puzzles to speak of, demon negotiation is baddly implemented I never had to use it just wait until they beg to join you, they do it often enough.
Its just very casual overall, the stealth was a good idea but not engaging enough.

And the battles that arent braindead take real effort - On top of the fact that its entirely possible for a lot of fights to be genuinely dangerous. The fact that its possible to Git Gud to a degree you blow it out is a feature, since it's hardly guaranteed.

Hate to rbeak it to you, but press turn is a staple of SMT in general. Nocturne is no different in this regard, all it requires is knowing how the strategize efficiently and buff appropriately before hand. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying P5 is as challenging as Nocturne, but its still fun enough if you're playing on a decent difficulty and actually attempt to have fun with the game.

DS colors is a pale imitation of Rush. Generations is highly overated due to nostalgia appeal and has physics nearly as bad as Sonic 4 for the now sky blue "Classic" Sonic and improved, but still on the rails, gameplay for Modern Sonic. It's 6/10 at best. Adventure is flawed but it at least took risks and was ambitious for it's time. SA2B is flat out a great game that gets memed nowadays by autists.
