>Has basically nothing to do with the original
>Somehow prequel does well enough to warrant a followup
>Has even less to do with the original game

So what did we learn?
>>
>>388836250
MD failed because they tried gutting as much as possible to make room for DLC/future installments, not because it was a prequel.
>>
They should have gone full reboot. The prequel shit was tedious as fuck. I don't fucking care about the plot, I already know how I resolved it in the first game. FUCK PREQUELS.
>>
>>388836383
You can thank square enix for that.

should've just called the game Human Revolution and nixed the Deus Ex title, it makes no fucking difference whatsoever, you can play the whole thing as a stand alone cyberpunk game and it makes zero difference. Any flaws HR had were magnified a hundred fold by having the Deus Ex name attached.

Bravo, Squenix, Ubicuck couldn't have done a better job killing a franchise. Maybe in 10 years, go back to the original formula and be anti-globalist instead of using a beloved series to promote the globalists' shit ideology.

We learned that Square Enix is intentionally sabotaging old, successful Western franchises during a time of record-breaking profits for the company.

Square Enix forced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to be split into two games to double the profit. They added on multiple unnecesssary pre-order packs and day 1 item DLC. You could buy in game experience with cash and it was a single player game. It was blatantly anti-consumer, no one bought it, and so Square Enix shut down the franchise. In my opinion, ruining Deus Ex and Hitman was always their goal.
>>
>>388836718
Making augmented people the oppressed ones was fucking stupid.

Augs are for rich people. The game should have focused on the class divide rather than trying to be an allegory for the racial divide.

>>
>>388836250
I unironically like each of the 6 Deus Ex games.
>>
Does it take more effort today to make a video game that makes the use of modern hardware? Naive me would say that what takes time is gameplay level design and that it takes the same amount of time to create a good looking game as it did 15 years ago. The primary difference being higher textured models, larger spaces, and godrays and shit.
>>
So they cancelled the new dx?
>>
>>388837472

Not disagreeing, but what would be their incentive? Is it really that hard to compete with today's Western games?

Rhetoric! And you believe it!
>>
>>388837870
Today is harder, at least for these AAA games. Also, one of the main issues newer games suffer from is that all the time/resources they could spend on level design are being transferred towards better looking graphics or gimmicks that no one wants.
Then again, older games didn't have the tools so easily available. So it's a matter of perspective.

MD took place after HR, when augmented people went crazy and killed millions(?). People, rightfully, are afraid something like that could happen again. Issue is that the augmented people didn't want it to happen.
I see nothing wrong with how it was handled in MD. I'd say Edios were a bit biased towards the augmented, but there are arguments for both sides in the game.

If you guys played the director's cut of Human Revolution, that DeMerle cunt who headed the writing staff bragged that they had one guy listen to hours and hours and hours of Alex Jones to write the lines for Lazarus. She laughed about it, but fast forward a few years and suddenly a ton of the globalist things Jones warned about have been verified.

I like to think the guy who wrote Lazarus' dialog is red pilled as fuck these days.

I don't think DE1 was anti-globalist, it was just about the wrong people being in control of that because they wanted power instead of wanting to make things better. You can stop globalism in its tracks with Tong's ending, but it's basically just putting humanity backwards and he later admits it was a mistake.

True. Personally its rare to actually encounter those moments, more like
>great looking character
>Animation is shit so it's like you can see the puppet strings which takes you out
Still, the point was that the resources are being spent on these advancements, that inevitably get cut back because of console limitations, so we go back to square one. Great bullshots, average looking in motion. And instead of compensating this with better gameplay/level design/etc, we just get an inferior game all around.

MD, gameplay wise, has made several steps forward comparing it to HR.
I liked the story/writing enough, nothing too impressive, but still enjoyable.
The problem is that this isn't even half of a game, I'd say it has 1/4 of the content I was expecting, and while the maps are good, there are too few missions, and one main hub doesn't cut it at all.

I didn't like the characters. I felt attached to Pritchard, Malik, Sarif, and others. I couldn't feel anything for the characters I interacted with in Mankind Divided. If you chose to go full stealth, there is no challenge. If you go full homicidal maniac then there is disconnect with the themes. And despite now working for an organization like Interpol, Adam still has to do everything himself.
>"Oh no, you have to decide which mission you want to participate in and lose out on the other one."

This is fucking stupid.
Especially since MD Jensen is 10 times better than HR Jensen.
>>
>>388840653
I think it's better. The main story is sorter, but there is much, much more to do in the hub than the hubs in HR combined. The side quests are excellent - some of, if not the best, I've seen in a game.
The world is great and really interesting. Reading about how things have changed since HR, and how things will lead to the original is entertaining.
Characters aren't given enough attention, but they are all good - just not around enough.
Gameplay is quite similar to HR, but the level design is some of the best around.
Whilst the story of MD is complete, it does sort of end abruptly because of the planned sequels.
Soundtrack is also good, but maybe not on par with HR.

When our family first got a computer in 2004, my brother and I went to walmart to get some cheap PC games. There was a value pack called "Lock and Load", which contained Beachhead 2000, Project: IGI, some spec ops game, and as a bonus, included the preview edition of Deus Ex.

Deus Ex quickly became our favourite after we learned that you can't play it like any other FPS. The preview edition was a very, very long demo. You get to play up until leaving from UNATCO HQ after breaking out of MJ12. It gave me the biggest case of gaming blue balls I've ever had.

Mankind Divided got a bad rap considering the game was about as good as HR which was well-received. I swear Square deliberately sabotaged its release with their harebrained pre-order and microtransaction schemes, as well as lack of proper marketing.

My biggest gripe with MD was that there were always several ways to get to places. That made having jump/strenght/etc pointless and kills replayability. Too many fucking vents everywhere too.

HR suffered from it too, but at least there were the occasional route and place you could reach only by having one or several augs.

The seeds of MD failing were already there in MD.

The new games are to Deus Ex what Fallout 3 and 4 and to the originals.
>new developers look over the old game
>a particular theme jumps out at them (transhumanism for DX, 1950s nuclear theme for Fallout)
>go full retard on that one theme and ignore everything else the game was about

In the case of MD they just pushed it too far since it was now just 'augmentation as some kind of metaphor for absolutely everything', and it makes zero sense if you haven't played HR to the point that the game has to open with a 10 minute recap video

I think that Deus Ex gameplay would work quite well in a coop mode of sorts

You could have a friend infiltrate one part of a facility to disable some security stuff, then you could sneak through the previously secure area and open a passage for your friend and then you could take down some bad guys together, then you could get whatever objective item you needed and escape

Actually you could have it like dark souls, so you could do things yourself (but they'd be a lot harder), or you could summon a friend or two to help you out

Maybe that's why I'm more willing to forgive MD's shitty story - HR's was already pretty bad. The writers just cannot get away from "augs augs augs" angle even when it just feels forced and senseless. The game tries to be more 'grounded' than the first by avoiding the more zany stuff like greys but it actually somehow feels more contrived.

But the newer deus ex games look at other themes as well though - the influence of (corrupt) media, and corporations running the world for their own profit.
Also how on earth is it bad that they made MD so that playing HR helps give you context, and they give you a video to catch up if you didn't play it.

They should have done what every other DX game did which was create a new time period and protagonist to start fresh.

DX1 actually had a pretty good pitch to newcomers.
>you're an augmented secret agent who is going after a terrorist network
>everything else is revealed to you along the way

MD is a mess for that. In terms of gameplay content it's a full game, in terms of story and narrative it's basically an expansion pack to HR.

People who never played Half Life can enjoy Half Life 2 and understand what's going on. If you play MD without playing HR then you will have no clue. This is disastrous because the total number of possible customers is capped at how many people bought the previous game, and then you have to hope that every single one of those people also buys the new one

One thing that really pissed me off about HR was that you could use the CASIE aug to pressure what's-his-name into admitting that he's only fucking it up for everyone because he's jealous that he's one of the few people who can't accept augmentations, and yet the conversation immediately defaults back to him acting like he's atoning for a crime he enabled. I vaguely recall playing the demo around the time it was released and dropping it really fast because of how the combat felt. At the time I was probably just looking for a decent shooter and I don't think I had read anything about it.

I didn't even look at the game again until 2009, when a let's player I liked happened to play it. I let the whole playthrough play in the background while I did other stuff, and by the last couple areas the game started to look really interesting.

The plot had been really hard to keep up with since I wasn't in control and the game kept introducing so many new characters throughout, so I downloaded it and played it myself from start to finish, this time paying attention and enjoying it immensely.

If it was more of a background thing in addition to other in-universe global issues and conspiracies it wouldn't have been that bad, but making it the absolute focus of the game and being so in your face about it was a bit much. Especially since none of this was really touched on or even a part of the first game which this is supposed to be a prequel to.

When MD came out and I heard it was cut to all shit I decided not to buy it. I'll probably get it sometime later when it's cheaper and with all the DLC bundled, but while the game seems to have gameplay improvements the story is...well, let's say I'm not holding out for anything great.

>>

The "logical" step was also the most boring. A more interesting thing to do would be to set it in the 2030s with a new protagonist and use the fallout of the incident as a background. We know that in the early 2030s the United States is in chaos, with massive earthquakes and secessionist movements on the rise.

Not really. The whole thing is based on augs taking jobs and normal people are freaking out, but beyond military and industrial work, augs wouldn't really make much of a difference in anything so it shouldn't be a big deal, but it is because that's the thing they wanted to focus on. Another thing is the drug they need so their implants don't get rejected by the body, which isn't a thing since the body doesn't work that way and it's only there to have a downside to being an aug beyond everyone hating you because reasons.

If the body rejecting foregin artificial objects was a thing and as much of a problem as they make it out to be in these games, half of Korea would be hooked on this shit right now.

The Enzo Ferrari is a 12 cylinder mid-engine berlinetta sports car named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. It was built in 2002 using Formula One technology, such as a carbon-fibre body, F1-style electrohydraulic shift transmission, and carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite disc brakes. Also used are technologies not allowed in F1 such as active aerodynamics and traction control. After a downforce of 7600 N (1700 lbf) is reached at 300 km/h (186 mph) the rear wing is actuated by computer to maintain that downforce.

A game can't go and change metaphors after one has already been established in the prior title without looking stupid. In Human Revolution, Augs were an allegory for unrestrained free market capitalism. The few who could afford augs would be able to fully realize their potential and allow them to control their own life. The trade off is that augs were leaving behind those who couldn't afford them, as well as fucking over people who were pressured to get augs, but couldn't really afford it long term and got hooked on neuropezine, or couldn't afford them at all and allied with dangerous criminal groups in order to get them.

Unlike you, I don't masturbate to it, so I don't know where to find it.

Also, unlike you, I started posting a decade ago. That don't mean I simply know the rules and have nothing to prove to you, it means the shit I saw on this very board was much more disgusting than mundane midget porn.
It also means your next post will be extremely predictable.

Okay, something simple then. How about titfucking picture? Maybe a picture of naked kids? Or hell, black cocks you guys obsess over. Let's have it. Or you gonna run with your tail between your legs? Make more excuses because you know I'm right?

Oh yeah, all two of them.
>>
>>388857410
*all three of them. Or four if you count that shitty mobile game Vega was introduced in, but nobody cares about that.

If they ever revisit the license, I hope they don't shoehorn it in with some trans lives matter shit or whatever the mainstream media globalists will be promoting at such time.

Anon covering pedo's asses online is now asking for child porn

I still think the obvious answer to quell the nervous shareholders without canning the fanchise entirely is to give the first game its much-needed remaster.

Simple money to get the fanchise out of the rut.

What do they mean by "blowing open a larger ring" apart from the obvious easy jokes, it sounds like a good thing or does it mean they were trying to bring more people into it?

I miss the days that you could walk into an office store like Staples or Office Max, see a bunch of computer games and browse in comfort without some neckbeard oogling 10 yr old video game characters close enough that you could smell the Doritos on him.

So Adam in HR is the real one and the one in MD is a clone?

Criminals tend to associate with other criminals.
They were hoping that arresting that particular person was enough to lead to a bigger human trafficking ring.

It's a coverup, my firend.

So why does HR set it up like it's an economic issue, then clumsily pivot to it being a race issue? Augmentation as an allegory for a bunch of different things is retarded and the game collapsed because they pushed it too far

Honestly, the game ending in the middle of the story and what story story we got being mostly irrelevant bothered me more than their shitty attempt at being topical.

MD plot was finalized way before BLM nonsense started. In this case SQEnix was fucked over by political circumstance.

MD failed for its own reasons.
