So beyond savage is the new raid difficulty coming in 4.1. That means the current raiding is meant to be cleared with relative ease. Can people stop memeing about how easy the game is now?

It'd be like if Warcraft only released Heroic raids at launch and waited until the first major patch for the first Mythic raid. Stupid on Square Enix's part but now it makes sense why people blew through the content so fast, it was developed to be cleared that quickly to make way for Beyond Savage.

Maybe to compensate for DPS dealt to them? Still, SAM nerfs dont mean much when they have that absurd counter move anyway. MNK nerfs on the other hand cripple the job even more than it already is.

It's easily the most useless in PvP. Can't buff party members with Brotherhood even though DRG keeps Battle Litany. No way to escape melee range the way DRG and RDM can either. Earth Tackle doesn't exist so no knockback to get away. It's pretty much constant suicide because once you get a stun in, you're just done.

Other ranged jobs are in THEIR OWN backline, so they would be completely out of range.
Gap closing jobs going after ranged is a suicide mission. They will Limp you and walk away, that's assuming you aren't already dead within 3 seconds

Nah. It'll probably take like 2-3 days for hardcore groups, maybe a little longer. I dunno if you guys did Second Coil Savage, but that shit was absolutely not easy. It was pretty much tuned that you'd only barely make it through hps/dps checks even with near-perfect play; at least if you did it at i110, and that was when classes were piss easy. If we have the mechanical difficulty of Second Coil Savage along with difficulty of the classes we have now you are going to be hearing a lot of people bitching. I really hope SE ignores them.

A4S was far harder than A3S. A3S was cleared in a week, A4S took THREE more weeks after that.

The metric for how long it took the fights to be cleared as a indicator of actual difficulty doesn't really work for Gordias due to just the sheer amount of gear gating there was. It didn't take 3 weeks because they were having a hard time performing well enough, it took 3 weeks because it was physically impossible to do the numbers the fights required.

This is because a disproportinate amount of the money for 1.0 went into the cutscene. I'm alright with cutscenes being mostly prebaked animations and nodding if it means more effort is spent on the rest of the game, and providing we still get something impressive every now and then during really important story events.

Except, it is a mentality people have. I understand the former, and Royal Menagerie doesn't feel as good once you clear it and understand it. But there are still ways to use that level of presentation to make something new and interesting.

Which is what I, personally, see as a major fault of XIV. Once you experience it, learn it, it's just no good anymore. It doesn't have to be harder, it just has to be more interesting than the last. And trying to work with old and busted mechanics to make something new each time I can imagine being a major challenge.

Cutscenes are cutscenes. Not aesthetics. You could see for yourself how dark everything was, how bad the particle effects were, how bad the shadows were and how night looked like fucking Bluefog everywhere for some reason.
Probably the only positive thing about its aesthetics was that it didn't have too many overdesigned spiky shit armor like HW and SB.
Butts are nice but caring about it in XIV where you SHOULD be wearing gear there is a /xivg/ Balmungoloid concern.

But why can't we have both? I agree that difficulty alone isn't enough to carry a fight to greatness--just look at how people reacted to Gordias I think it's pretty shit, too. Second Coil Savage and Midas on the other hand are some of the most fun I've had in this game. A6S, T9S, and T7S are ridiculously interesting and difficult fights and I love them for it. T7S made all my friends hate each other, though.

Then it would have to be an entirely different game. XIV as a whole is about the WoL and the world itself. PvP is purely side content. You'd need something akin to Aion's """story""" for that kind of effort from the ground up to be a fully fledged product. You're soldier #9725, go run out in the fields and kill other players and progress the poorly tossed together plot. Or just play an online arena game like people normally do.
