Why does UnderRail have no recognition? It recreates old RPG's

I played it and I was really enjoying it. It wasn't until about eight hours in that I realised my build was shit and it was almost impossible to continue. I'd spread myself a bit too thin. I'll definitely go back to it some day.

We had a shitton of underrail threads after release and they still pop up here and there. Easily the best thing that happened with crpgs in last 10 years.

The art was bad, the menus were bad, and it was way too slow.

Failed a check? Restart and put the points in the right place this time, repeat until you know the stat build you need to finish the game.

This thing is probably the best game of its kind since Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate or something. I'd say Underrail is even better.
I don't remember the last time I saw a game that has actual difficulty, while also having so many legitimately viable ways to play.

That said, I made a build that can kill anything, hack/lockpick anything and pass all speech checks because I'm a massive faggot who hates fun.

i've played and beat the retro fallout which i expected underrail to be like
but i cant seem to get started in underrail and just keep getting lost or killed by swindlers in some junkyard

Not really. Depot A is the next part of the game you're going towards and is the trial-by-acid that'll stress test your build and teach you how to play the game proper. After you survive that, you pretty much know how to play it. Before (as in where you are now), not so much.

It might be just a personal preference thing, but I do like playing it on a lower resolution than my native one. I like it more when I get a more limited closer look than a clear picture of the entire map. That's too impersonal and isn't really all that useful aside from making navigation slightly faster.

UnderRail is regarded one of the best RPGs of the recent years.

UnderRail barely has any dialogue checks. It's mostly a rathound killing simulator. Anything combat related is pretty good though, much better than in the original Fallout games. Stealth is also exceptionally well done for a game like that.

Age of Decadence however has great combat too. I don't know any other game which managed to give turn-based melee combat a comparable depth. And no, it's easily possibly to play characters that can do both fighting and talking if you know how.
