I'd still say to try out hard first for at least the first 20 levels and if that doesnt do it then go for hard mode just because i found them overall not to be too far apart in difficulty and more in regards to store prices, enemy commands and the time it takes for leveling even if the later isnt as big of a deal in comparison to normal

Nocturne is almost completely different from newer Personas. Hard requires a lot of grinding, not as much as normal. Cheap insta-kills appear on both difficulties and are basically rng-based most of the time.

You don't need to grind at all even on Hard mode, just fuse good demons. The thing about Hard is that it increases shop prices so Magatamas (equipment that gives you skills) are harder to get. You may need to grind for Macca if you want to catch 'em all.

Pass cost half a turn. Basically the 4 turns are shared for the whole party, so you can abuse pass for further flexibility

Hitting weakness also gives an extra 1/2 turn. On the other hand missing make you lose 1 turn on top of the turn used for action, so evasion buffs/debuffs are extremely important

Started hardtype a few days ago and just grinded till level 23 or something and beat matador pretty easily with uzume and null force magatama, wasn't that hard, 1st dante is pretty hard tho

Hard is hard as you'd expect but it's pretty fun in my opinion. You don't have to grind at all because it's all about using the right demons and making the most of the press turn system. That said, you will get surprise attacked and killed instantly a decent amount and items are much more expensive. I'd recommend playing on hard.

The tutorial battles are completely luck based by the way, so don't lose hope if you wipe on the first three battles, it just means you got screwed by the RNG.

A lot of the candelabrum battles come out of nowhere, so unless you purposely buff levels beforehand, you're usually going to die at least once to most of them.

Nah, the hardest part of Hard is the early game, since you don't have a lot of options and money runs low. After a certain point its almost as "easy" as the normal difficulty.
