He's easy when you know what to do. At the very start stand above the platform he pulls down and get two-three free hits when he comes up. Hide under the platform jumping to avoid drowning in oil while the laser shoots. Then stand near the collapsing platform and jump/hit a few times are you are done. Actually a lot shorter than you expect.

All in all I was pretty disappointed with the game. Fun for sure, but only half the levels (half of THOSE being the remake levels) had a WOW factor.

A lot of the bosses were frustrating to figure out how to attack, and even still I don't know how to fight the Heavy Rider properly, but definitely not difficult enough for me to really say this is bad. Searching for rings to get Chaos Emeralds felt like a chore when, as a Sonic game, I like prioritize speed over exploration on my first playthrough.

Titanic Monarch Zone might be one of the worst stages I've ever played in a Sonic game.

Those are Bonus stages. Finding the Special stage rings is mandatory. The actual difference is that 3&K's ones are more on the way in the sense that Mania's ones need you to turn around against flow more to find them.

I've never died to him, I just think he's annoying and has bullshit attacks. No other enemy in the game can affect you during invincibility frames, except him. He can magically freeze you in a block of ice no matter what for some reason, in direct contrast to the function of invincibility frames for the entire game up until that point and afterward. The dev literally had to sacrifice one of the series' long established mechanics for the sake of making a specific boss functional. That's how poorly designed it is.

Am I the only one who really liked Press Garden? After the leak everyone was supper disappointed with it. But I think it was pretty great.
Also, nice PC release Sega. Sure it was worth it sacrificing "overwhelmingly positive" rating just to spite that one guy posting smug Sonics in hype threads.

Just stand behind a metal box, it'll smash it's saw blade, hit it 1-3 times. Repeat. Not difficult.

You're meant to be hitting the abdomen, not the head. But also the abdomen loses it's hitbox after you hit it and doesn't get it back until it's climbed a little way up.

No of level transitions for like half of the stages.
Underwhelming final boss (and true final boss)
Can't spindash on slopes.
Lack of cool bonus stages like the gumball machine or the casino night slot machine thing from S&K.
I've only played through the game 4 times so I don't have all the experience in the world, but Stardust Speedway Act 2 feels like a mess that's all over the place, and don't even get me started on the boss.

My major gripe with it being the setting.

The only thing i disliked about Titanic Monarch was the lenght, especially for Act 2, it feels like it drags on forever.
However the stage design, aesthetics and music were top notch.

the worst thing is old stages being remixed. they dont even end up being better than the originals and at times have custom content that makes them feel wrong.

other issues:
-old sound effects being reused for new shit
-too many auto pilot sections
-every checkpoint being bluesphere
-edited sonic 2 sprites rather than new ones
-half the levels don't have stage transitions
