Better than two and presequel in terms of writing, and if you like those games you'll basically get the same thing with actual jokes.

If you like the original game setting but hated the new games then besides a couple jokes most of tales is a continuation of the new games' bullshit.

gameplay is obviously non-existent so its really a question of how much you are into the setting for borderlands. If you're not at all it's actually an amusing ride but if you do care you'll probably dislike it.

Gameplay aside, writing is great, fantastic moments throughout. Every character is actually likable which is practically a first for the Borderlands series.
Plus it has the best death scene in the series, perfectly encapsulating both the humor and the despair from the setting should give.

I'm not familiar with Borderlands at all, but I found it enjoyable. It was my first TT game that I didn't just watch on YouTube. I found getting through some parts to be a chore because I just wanted to get to the meat of the story. Pretty solid though.

Yes, it's part of the Telltale Trilogy of The Only Good Interactive Movies They've Made*. Anthony Burch did write some stuff for it though and his contributions are very obvious. Mostly it's a fun game though. Top notch voice actors and licensed music.

Because people who liked Borderlands lore, and wanted more from the series that Gearbox couldn't provide, it gave a glimpse of how Pandera was to average Joe's of the planet.
Yeah the ending was kinda of a cliffhanger bait, but it makes people want more in the Borderlands World. Plus Nealy all the characters were likeable with the exception of Vazquez
