We dont know what your income is like, amount of free time or any factors of your life so we cant help you, think for yourself.
>>
I'd say just drop the same price you would on a console then just slowly upgrade it from there. Better to spread the cost out than go all in.
>>
I only earn like 1200 a month but I've got some savings, free time is like 3 days a week

What games do you want to play? (bare in mind people only play like 3 or 4 games all the time)
>>
>>388816273
If you need one, then yes. If you don't, then no.

I spent £500 on my pc a few years ago, it did me fine, started to get slow on modern games but then I just bought a new graphics card, gonna replace the CPU and power supply soon now that I have some spare dosh.

Considering "future proofing" your pc is impossible I'd go for a 600 quid build, unless you REALLY want shiny graphics.
>>
>>388817003
Well I want to play the new Total war on ultra, PUBG, Witcher 3 and I'd like to do some streaming one day

Here are my current stats.. I'm thinking maybe of getting a new CPU and GPU

Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz
369M (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (ZOTAC International)
8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (10-10-10-30)

Most games lag on high what should I do lads
>>
>>388816273
That depends. Do you need one? I mean if you already have a console plus an alright pc don't bother. But if your looking to get a new pc to replace your old one go for it and never have to buy a console again. Plus if you pirate you can save more than 800 over a few years.
>>
>>388817084
I don't think upgrading your PC will do a lot.

Have you tried updating your drivers?
>>
>>388816569

But then you're going to be working with things like a garbage-tier power supply, motherboard and case which will have to be upgraded anyway. Bad suggestion, anon.

Honestly its like this

Think of it more like a custom PC you built with pretty good specs that can do handle quite a bit, gaming included.

Because after about a month or so of owning a PC for gaming, you'll do less and less of it until you only X hours of PC gaming for a week.

My advice is to pickup a new creative outlet along with PC gaming.

-Video editing/Photo editing
-Programming (Could be games or just web dev type things)
-Map creation for certain games (Like CSGO? Learn how to create a CSGO map instead of trying to become Streamer No.#99999)
-3D Modeling
-Animation (2d or 3d, both if you're up for a challenge)

These are just off the top of my head, I'm only saying this because your $800 rig will quickly become an $800 Browsing machine with the occasional (and I mean occasional) gaming thrown into the mix.

>Total war on ultra, PUBG, Witcher 3

Total War on ultra won't happen but you can play PUBG and Witcher 3 with your current rig.

>I'd like to do some streaming one day

If you're not that committed then don't bother, you'll just be another 50+ view channel with a £2 donations per week.

Save your money OP for a house or something.

Could literally sell the 960 and buy 1060 (best one is 6G version) and play everything on high at like 60 fps.

Everything else has been hit by miners so it's not worth it. Anything below or above a1060 is a waste of money, especially AMD.

>£800
fucking poorfags i swear. my ram alone costs half of that and GPU was around £800. and don't fucking fall for the ryzen maymay. AMD is and has always been fucking shite. for gaming purposes having high IPC or single threaded performance is the only important feature of CPU and AMD's shit cpus are about 6 years behind intel in that regard. fuck amd and fuck poorfags

>daddy buys all of my over-expensive shit: the post

I bet you have a razer mouse too.
>>
>>388816273
depend on what you like, with life priorities and so on
>>
>>388816273
If you have to ask, the answer is probably no.
>>
>>388817084
The CPU is fine, sell your old graphics card and buy a 1060/1070.
Also you should consider buying a second RAM stick
>>
>>388818362
I have been living on my own for 6 years so i don't need my daddy to buy shit for me. Also i'm not a fucking pleb that uses razer or any other flashy "gayming" products. I bet you use gayming headphones like majority of /v/irgins, since nobody here understands shit about audio either
>>
Yea. But only if you get the money for free from investments.
>>
no.

>>388816456 first post best post.
>>
>>388816273
Nope.
Just get yourself a thinkpad.
>>
>>388816273
Sure it is. And it's far more worth the money than computers in the same price range as consoles or whatever.

Chances are it'll last you roughly two full console generations. And still have uses afterwards.
>>
If all you're gonna play is PUBG and CSGO, don't bother.

While we are on the topic of computers.
is it worth going for new ram if my 2 4gb ones are like this?
>>
>>388816273
If that's all you're willing to spend, you might as well get a console, since your PC would be obsolete in like 2 years tops.
>>
I'm still using a system from over 5 years ago with an i5-3570 and a gtx 1070 i bought used for about 60% of the retail price and it runs great with any title. I just did a minor turbo overclock on the CPU since it's locked and so far I'm not seeing any major bottlenecking.

Last benchmarks i did was Superposition on the 1080p extreme preset (the highest one), and the steamVR test.

Had an average of about 28 fps on Superposition and scored an 11 on the vr test with no CPU bound frames.
>>
Not OP but I don't give a shit about having modern games on high settings and would just like them to be playable. Also would mostly use a PC for internet browsing and emulation. Don't wanna make a hole in my wallet so what's the most efficient build I can get with that in mind? 400-700 price range is what I'd like
