Where did everything go soright
>>388816116
it all started with pannenkoek2012
>>388816116
the majority of the development consisted of women
It´s a kind of magic.

Dat smile
>>388817590
everyone can be a "critic", nothing absurd about that.
Listening to *every* critic, like they do, THAT is the retarded part.

I hope you can team up with him in DA4

Devs aren't amateurs like those who worked on Andromeda, thus it's less of a shitstorm. And people like it enough they even made like 3 expansions that were actually good and concludes the Inquisitor's story properly

>the important writers and devs that have been working on the series since Day 1 never left, unlike those of Mass Effect
>this way the lore was better and more consistent throughout the games and they know where the story is going (they planned the truth about the elven gods since from Origins and there are codex entries mentioning events and characters of Inquisition in the first game)
>less SJW stuff: Dorian's gayness is discussed only during his personal quest and it's only one of the many reasons that led his father to try to change him. Krem's transness can be totally ignored during the Chargers cutscene
>great locations and great tracks
>the companions go from decent (with the exception of Sera, I guess) to great
>gameplay is not the best, but unfortunately the series was never known for it, so it's not surprising
>great voice acting as usual
>great aesthetics and art, the tarot cards were a great idea and they look amazing
>biggest amount of lore in the series, even shown through art and frosted glass windows
>every culture finally has a specific style
>the Trespasser DLC was genuinely great and it shows the abysmal difference between Gaider and Weekes, new lead writer
When I first played this game, I was ready to see all the stuff predicted by /v/ come true, but I was genuinely surprised by it.

Gameplay is a lot more action-y compared to the first two (which was based on KOTOR, or Baldurs Gate) but you can use the tactical view if you want to. My only qualms is that there aren't enough hotkeys and even playing on PC won't help, and that the game actually expects you to read the novels and books so that you understand the whole thing
>people actually defend DA3 now
wow, I guess the generation that was 15 when it came out started to settle in.
>>388819829
I can't tell if this is bait or not.

I never understood how that's a bad thing, though. You can download books and novels online if you don't want to spend money for them or you can even just read the basic summaries on the web, which offer all the info you need. A series that has got content spread over different media is usually a good sign or at least indicates a certain level of effort and money poured into it. Other devs (even jap ones like Taro) love doing that shit.
>>388825675
I'm cool with reading if it's just short novellas like Taro's but 100+ pages books are too much for me. Plus in Taro games they were never a big part of it save for a bit of references and even if they were they literally put them in-game(A2's backstory/Pearl Harbor Descent)
>mfw Trespasser finally hints at what the Blight is and what the Titans and ancient elves did with it
>mfw Andraste was probably a mage and Mythal's first vessel to help her start her centuries-long plan to get revenge
>mfw the Black City is Arlathan, where the elven gods and the first Blight they unleashed are trapped in
>that explains why the Blight came from the Fade like the Chantry teaches, but also why it's always been in the underground too like the dwarves say
>mfw the Seekers and the Well of Sorrows are actually mentioned in Origins

Grimoire Nier is a huge book full of novellas, additional important info and the canon ending of Nier, all stuff without which the experience isn't absolutely the same. Same thing counts for Drakengard 3, the Japanese deluxe version had a big-ass book explaining everything and Taro just did the same thing now with Automata, writing two full novels that explain stuff middle and post game and holding another stage play with the official VAs where the canon ending is showed.
Automata itself is based upon a stage play that you must read/watch to understand all the shit going on in the game. Compared to that, the effort one would need to read everything about Dragon Age is insignificant and it never bothered me, mostly because the lore genuinely interests me, the World of Thedas books are pretty good and the art is top tier, and the novels are decently written.
>>388823843
It's just women, anon. The main audience of this game, and they've always defended it.
>>388825996
>tfw stopped playing Inquisition because keep getting killed in Jaws of Hakkon
>one day the hard drive decided to wipe off the game for some reason
>fast forward 3 years later
>literally forget every lore that I used to autistically read on the wiki
>can't even remember who Corypheus is and what was his deal
>too lazy to go back from origins again
>>388826546
hakkon isn't very important, just gives you some lore about the first inquisition and the founding of orlais
descent is lore-heavy as fuck, about the dwarves, deep roads, and dwarven magic
trespasser ties up the main story and should've been in the base game. corypheus was just a dupe, not the real villain
If you ever ger to playing again, just fuck off from hakkon and do descent and trespasser
>>388819113
Didn't they set him up as the big bad for the next one? Dude literally wants to destroy the world as we know it to bring back the age of elves.

I'm >>388826546
So basically I lost the momentum to keep up with everything and now the lore just seems like gibberish to me, especially the Elven mythology bit and how Flemeth/Solas/Maker etc is all part of one big scheme. Perhaps someday I'll find the desire to play it again
In Nier's case I kept reading a lot of the side stuff, watched the Stage Play while I was still excited for the game. I even bothered to emulate Drakengard 1.
