To be fair, that remake of BN1 had the *-code and the Escape function implemented, a very good map system which made the Internet much more intuitive to explore, and SS MegaMan absolutely BROKE the game.
It's the definitive version and I loved every moment of it. I even fought Bass as SS MegaMan.

I'd say it's mostly because the dungeons sucked, the tournament shit sucked, and you literally need to replay the entire game 3 times to get good chips, also some people didn't like the sprite change where they shrunk everything in 4. Personally though I always liked that 4 introduced actually fighting default navis. It was always disorienting when you were about to fight a default netnavi or evil navi and then a bunch of viruses just popped up. Too bad it didn't carry on to any other game besides 4.

Protoman version came out first with Colonel coming out a few months later. the DS version is basically a bundled version (you basically select the version you wanna play first, which has its own saves).

It had some connectivity stuff by putting GBA games in the DS. Putting in BN1-4(+4.5) changes the battle music to a remixed version of the matching game's. BN5 with a complete save will give you Bass Cross Megaman, and Boktai 2(3?) gives you Sol Cross Megaman.

BN3 was broken, so they nerfed it in BN4. BN4 was broken anyway, so they nerfed everything harder.

It even had some good chip ideas, but implementation for many was really sloppy, and if I remember right it had even more single hit flinching chips than usual. I also suspect that its library was built specifically so each soul could have like two viable chips at most, because that's the impression I got from Knight and Gyro souls.

SF2 was okay in some aspects but shit in others. I thought it was neat for the wave road to actually physically attach to the real world, the sky waves were awesome and I loved how things that gave off 'waves' even in the metaphorical sense ended up having wave world PCs (oh, this fountain gives off relaxing waves, oh it turns out I can jump in here)
