I only just recently played it. Controls are terrible. Story is boring as hell, spend most of my time skipping dialogue cus I'd rather watch it on YouTube later. Playing on the difficulty just below death March and it's too easy. Thank christ I pirated.

I agree with you on most of those criticisms likely to a much lesser extend, but I still love the game. If you are a high enough level and you pirated Hearts of Stone DLC, I recommend that if you found the main story a bit bland. Best story i've seen in a game in a while.

Yea with all that I still have fun at times, mostly out side the main quest like taking on contracts. And I am planning on finishing both dlcs before I make a final opinion on it. Controls are still bad tho, probably better with a controller.

I tried giving it a chance, just found myself zoning out, ofc I started to skip it after my first 5 hours. Found the baron quest line really interesting, but instantly gave zero fucks when he'd give info about Ciri.

I've been playing it for the first time, and its fun so far. I'm only a few hours into it, but I would rather push this foreign horde from my land than follow some girl named Jennifer who I guess I'm supposed to care about.

I like it, but its a shame they cut Iorveth and Saskia out, give Eredin barely any dialogue. No RED KIT 3 despite promises before release. Also downgrade of lighting effects and shaders.

This was one of my biggest problems with witcher 3. Even though Witcher 2 focused on all the interesting political shit going on and the dozen conspiracies behind the wars, witcher 3 chooses to dedicate only a few side questlines to all the politics. Even though the politics are a LOT more interesting than the main fairy tale story. The story is somewhat made better by Hearts of Stone DLC, but never reaches the highs of Witcher 2.

Seriously, if you want more feudal scheming shit, play Witcher 2. The story is much better.

I played with mouse and keyboard and controller is definitely better. If your mouse has extra buttons that are programmable that comes in handy too, you can map sign casting and dodging for example.

You can't roleplay? There's a reason the skill trees and dialogue options with the different quest outcomes exist. Actually even if the game offered no customization options whatsoever it would still be a roleplaying game, since you're roleplaying as a set character in a defined setting with extensive storytelling and questing. Is Deus Ex:HR not an RPG either for example?

I mean, yeah, by your own definition of RPG you consider many games to not be RPGs. But what's the point in bringing it up? Nobody uses your definition of an RPG anywhere for discussion. When the game devs and gamers classify the game as an RPG according to the definition of an RPG honed by previous games, then that label will be used and discussed regardless of what you think.
