If it's currently considered good, i shudder to think what it was like at release
>>
>>388749325
Yes. They waited until the game became something closer to the game they wanted to play because they desperately did not want to give it an accurate review before.
>>
They've kept up with updating it so it's much less shitty than it was at launch.

Honestly I'll probably give it a go after a few more big updates come out
>>
>>388749426
This sounds ridiculously far fetched

I would get it if it wasn't a $60 year old game that got slammed on release for being an unfinished mess of lies.

It's starting to look like a game. but I don't think they should give this game positive review for all the shit Sean spewed.

Publishers don't want to lower the price because then people might mistakenly buy it and leave another round of stock lowering reviews and refunds.

They made a bunch of alts and handed out a ton of keys to people to leave good reviews, in order to try and salvage their shitty game.
>>
>>388749670
I haven't played it for more than a few hours back in its original state, but from everything I can gather it's much better now than it was at release, although still nowhere close to the dreamy lies they told. The fact that the more recent reviews are mostly positive either means that A) The game is good, or at least not bad or B) People who played it before came back and got positively surprised. The people you describe (if they exist at all) would just have written a positive review from the beginning.
>>
>>388748974
They finally somewhat finished it
>>
>>388750101
It's possible editing your original review can count as a recent review. I wouldn't know for sure though because I don't review games; especially when I don't own them.

You know NMS is self-published on PC, right? They're a private company
>>

That explains why the price hasn't changed. Nobody works there anymore. They just collect checks.
>>
>>388750521

the only thing that happened on release was that mongoloids with an iq of 30 overhyped themselves on a very simple concept of a game and got hung up over a bunch of token features missing (that would have changed literally nothing in terms of how the game feels if they were in there, like fucking sand worms), then inevitably got disappointed and endlessly shit on the game and the devs in return, who did not do anything in particular that isn't commonplace with literally every developer currently out there (like cutting features from release without saying much about it).

now however, the game got another round of publicity, but everyone is actually on realistic ground in terms of what they expect from the game. new people play it, old people play it again with a fresh point of view and what do ya know, they actually enjoy it, because the people who know they don't enjoy that type of game do not try to play it again.

tl;dr; people are morons
>>
Appears nobody else has played the game but me.
>>
>>388749552
because it is sarcasm
>>
They need to optimized it really bad.
>>
I clicked on this thread hoping for some actual discussion on what updates, expansions, w/e could have made this game better. Reviews don't change so drastically without good reason
>>
>>388752221

I mean co-op exploring will definitely improve people's experience, and that's probably gonna happen down the line with the groundwork they've already set up from this recent update
>>
>>388748974
It was cheap, people paid $15 for it and reviewed it for that price.

Now the price went back up but they keep the score, it's a tactic

>Thousands of MRA Alt-Left Gamergator KKK members manbabies cry about how the game was not appealing to them because they wanted Hatred in space
>Sean goes into a depression for all the abuse caused by the nazi gamergator shitlords
>Sean gathers enough progressive force to make a new update to the game

>>

>inb4 they added building and crafting and a portal now, it's GOOOOD now I swear
There's a better block building game called Minecraft. Play that. Oh, and it comes with proper multiplayer.
>>
>>388752221
I think it has to do with the fact that they added lootboxes (when they said they wouldn't) and the fact that they banned a lot of people for stream snipping, when the evidence for doing so is very circumstantial leading many to believe they were wrongfully banned.

All of this on the PR front, I have no idea if they fucked the game up with an update or something since I don't play it.

You ignored the point. The base game should not still be $60 after this much time. Even for AAA games this would be absurd. The fact that it has been on sale before has nothing to do with the point. I figured you would understand what the point was because I explained it many times. Looks like you just want to fucking argue without understanding anything. You're convinced everyone is wrong of everything and won't listen to a word they say to the point where you're unable to follow the conversation at all.

Publishers decide the price. Justify why they have not lowered it. You want to argue the point well that is the point. Argue why you think otherwise. Argue why you think the price should remain $60. That is the one and only point you should concern yourself with; the point you are actively disagreeing with. I'm asking you to explain why you disagree with it. Illustrate your counter-point.

this latest patch is the worst yet, from what I played it didn't add anything but fetch quests, all the while the ground vehicles and base building are still counter productive to the ultimate goal of the game and serve no real purpose; there's still NOTHING interesting to find on planets, so why restrict yourself to a single planet?

People bought into the hype and impulsively bought a game with a premise they had no interest in, played it for 10 minutes and then bashed it because that's what everyone else was doing.

People who are into open world exploration games stuck with it and are enjoying it.

It got several big updates AND most people rating it now probably got it for a sale price of around ~20$. It's a better game than it used to be, and it's easier to forgive the flaws and have the expectations at lower level when you haven't paid a ridiculous 60$ for it.

Basically, it's becoming the game that it should be both contentwise and pricewise (only during sales, but still).

There were two sales in close proximity to each other, one being the summer sale, the other being the Atlas Rises (1.3) patch sale. Both of which priced the game at about $20, which is probably what the game should've retailed at. This injected innumerable players. With the new features introduced from 1.1 & 1.2 compounding with the story from 1.3 on top of numerous improvements it's become a decent game compared to launch.

There is now a living commodities market, base building, implicit multiplayer on two levels, QoL improvements like freighters and teleportation from station to base and station to station, there is farming, manufacturing, and a handful of RPG elements.

It still has problems, but it is by no means bad either. It's a reasonably playable game when there's naught else to do. Also it features mod support to some extent which is pretty great in and of itself.
>>
>>388772456

What started out as a really shitty and unfinished randomly generated survival game has finally upgraded to generic randomly generated survival game. Not particularly good and nothing I've seen will still convince me to buy it, but some people do like that sort of shit and it's just now reached the level of what's expected in the genre. Not exceed it mind you, not even managed to reach its own level of initial hype, but what is to be expected of every other game of its genre.
>>

There has been an effort to establish a nexus for base sharing and economy since 1.2 was released, a lot of people have moved to adjacent systems in order to take advantage of this.
