I used to replay it a lot when I was younger. I recall trying very hard to get him to fall out of the arena, but iirc even if he's in stun he just gets out instantly and jumps.

Specs aren't the issue.
Emulation is pretty much never perfect, and a lot of games are fickle special snowflakes that have their own quirks when emulating so games either work perfect while others just won't work or function as they should, regardless if you have a NASA supercomputer or a toaster.
For example, Hogs of War is a bitch to run on ePSXe emulator, at least when I did it, don't know if any new update or plugins increased stability and compatibility
