I just beat the Risky DLC for HGH, it's the same fucking mediocre game minus the boring HUB content between levels (thank god), but that makes the game last two hours. Also the character is pretty much rehashed from Pirate's Curse.

The writing/storytelling in Shovel Knight is surprisingly fantastic, I'd love to see them make an RPG to really flex their story/writing muscles

A castlevania Esque game would be nice from them. On the note of the reveal though they mentioned 4 new "worlds" or specifically stages, I'm hype for that.

I really hope the level design is tailored around King like it was with Specter. My only dislike with Plague are the levels being basically the same which I can understand since his story is concurrent with Shovel Knight but eh.

I didn't like Spectre's story and feels like they cut shit.

The only shitty part of the tower climb was the lack of a real reward. The climb itself was great

I wanted Mole Knight in all honesty, either him or Propeller would have been great but Plague Knight already makes use of staying in the air so it doesn't matter much. Mole Knight could have had some potential though, drill dozer tier stages where you go underground, plus they would have found some ways to implement lava and slime into all of his stages which could make for interesting gameplay. Polar Knight would have been nice too just to see what they'd do with his size. I imagine most of his levels would be ice or snow related.

I actually really like the levels of Specter Knight as well as how Specter Knight moves and plays.
I mainly felt that it was everything surrounding that, that was lacking. Which admittedly still places it at the bottom.

The original Shovel Knight had all the towns and everything.
Plague Knight had a limited view of the towns (that was from a different perspective) in addition to his lair (that was quite different and special).

Specter Knight? I mean the tower was kind of cool, but in comparison it just doesn't feel like much. And while more characters are added to the tower, it also doesn't feel like there was as much progression with the tower either.
With Shovel Knight each town had a couple of events of its own, and most of all reaching the second town from the first one to begin with kind of doubled your town-ship in a way. You felt a sense of progression in regards to the world itself.
Plague Knight? The towns still had an event each as you went through them. But at the same time they really conveyed the feeling of your hideout growing.

Specter Knight just kind of had the mirror. Not even the cool dragon knight even amounted to anything. It's like the biggest accomplishment the tower had was to watch the skeleton guy be reunited with and dance with his wife. I dare say it's not much in comparison. But the levels and gameplay itself? Still great.
It's a shame really. But yeah, it's still a great game. Just could have been a lot better.

Not as much as you'd think. Outside of the "Collect every Upgrade" achievements, most feats train you for completing another. Oh, you beat the game? Now do it with less healing and taking double damage. Oh, you did that? Then surely beating the game without any Relics won't be a problem for you.
And if it's the bosses that are too hard, the Challenges give good tips as to their weakpoints; like Polar Knight getting raped by the throwing scythes, or using the Phase Locket to get in on most bosses safely.

If you're willing to invest time into it, Shovel Knight's great at teaching you how to master it.
