Ignore all the ''Ryuji/Makoto/Ann'' faggots, those 3 are literally only good for the final dungeon, maybe final 2 if you spend time grinding. Anytime before those 2, which is pretty much 80% of the game, Yusuke has higher phys dmg than ryuji, morgana is a better healer than makoto and haru's gun skills make her the best for random encounters and farming crits.

Last dungeon you should swap morgana for makoto and yusuke for ann, keep haru in the party but swap in ryuji for boss fights.

He is, at first. Once Makoto catches up there's no reason to use Morgana, since Makoto has buffs, better stats all around, and one of the best elements.
Morgana is always valuable for non-boss fights, however, thanks to his crit punch skills, especially on the highest difficulty where all crits do more damage.

Ryuji for ATK buff and raw damage.
Ann for ATK debuff (redundant once you get Debilitate) and raw damage.
Makoto for healing and DEF buff, plus decent damage on spare turns.

Haru benefits the most from Ultra Charge (you can chain charged OSK, then concentrated Psiodyne), but still has decent damage otherwise. Her karns can be easily replicated using items if you need skill slots.
Yusuke's main benefit is his Agility buff. His lategame damage drops behind everyone bar Morgana otherwise.
You use Morgana as a crit machine, but ditch him for bosses once Makoto learns Mediarama.

I beat the game twice on merciless and never used recarm/salv once.
Unless you are using garbage personas there should never be a reason where you have to used those moves.

Recarm is useless even on Merciless. It has so little utility the amount of times I even needed it was offset by the revival beads I pick up. Salvation is also rarely different than Mediarahan most of the time. Your party members shouldn't even be dying if you were buffing them properly.

Recarm on Morgana is especially useless, since his crap HP/En means he's most likely to get KO'd first.

Most status heals can be substituted with cheap items, or Harisen Recovery.
Revival spells can be substituted with cheap rez items from Takemi.
Same with Karns and the ointments.
If you really want to stretch it, you can buy items that are essentially Dekunda/Dekaja/Mediarahan from the church on Sundays.

Salvation would be good if you got it way earlier and enemies used ailments or attack skills that cause status effects more often.

But even if you exploit reaper you only have a few bosses left to fight anyway who don't really use ailments save for the final boss who has special ailments that can't be cured by normal means and he only targets one party member at a time

P5 and P4G are pretty easy (unless you pick the hardest difficulty from the bad, then it's just tedious), and you'll pick up most of the mechanics of SMT in general from there. I felt like the game was actively trying to trick me with the "send someone to steal Kamoshida's treasure" thing during that boss battle. If you send someone away, not only are you down a member, but his attacks get more powerful too. After dying multiple times I finally just ignored the game and beat him normally. I'm pretty sure Kamoshida took me more tries to beat than the final boss for that reason.

If you steal his crown, Kamoshida essentially has a permanent ATK and DEF debuff (which stacks with the regular ones), plus he'll skip half his turns. You essentially win the instant you steal it, so I'm impressed that you won without doing that.
