I own a nice stormy storm rimmed raincatcher, the effect fits the hat itself and it's only worth about 20 dollars, cheap for everyone involved and people still will think you're rich just because. Used to have the basic normal one for the longest time before the original hat itself went towards trading up to my favorite hat and effect combo.

Very few unusuals can even get you 80 dollars these days.

protip never get a nuts and bolts, massed flies, aces high, smoking, bubbling, orbiting planets, steaming, green/purple confetti, kill-a-watt or terror-watt unusual because people will quickly start making fun of you for being a wannabe jew that wants to impress someone with how 'rich' they are yet can't afford a good effect/knows what a good effect is and just thinks instantly that unsuual=good

I got "earbuds" once, because. I guess I logged in on my macbook pro once, and it must've been way before I'd ever come to realize that such things would become valuable later on.

I never played TF2 seriously, and wasn't around for when "unusuals" became a thing. But at some point I started to get a lot of friends requests from people who only wanted to trade the earbuds. I realized immediately that I was sitting on something valuable and never went for any trades, but ended up selling them at the marketplace for about $30. I wonder what they're worth now and if I've made a mistake. Either way, it was money from nothing.

Never had an unusual, never had a shiny pokemon, never had a Rathalos Plate drop in MHFU. Did get an Uragaan Gem though.

I used to have a real close internet friend, who, some day, for no reason, decided he wanted to scam some kiddies for unusuals.

He told me he was going to do it, and 2 days he already had 3 of them. He gave me one for free, a robo version of an engineer hat with green squares as the effect, worth about 25 keys at the time. He continued this for another week and got 2 more, and then just stopped.

To this day I still have no fucking idea how he did it.

I owned that box step partner taunt with a disco ball effect. Loved using it for months, other players liked to join in - didn't even matter if we were capping a point with half the enemy team shooting at us. I later sold it for buds a good year before their value crashed.
