At that point in the game you get him, you don't really have much use for money. The status effects also aren't very helpful, but the debuff component is great, because it's twice as effective as Debilitate at preventing getting one-shot by bosses.

The first dungeon is stupidly hard but the first boss isn't. It's a noob trap because everyone who complains about getting wiped clearly didn't use buffs or debuffs. All you have to do is cast 2 accuracy up/downs on him and he'll miss every other swing, deleting his press turns and giving you smirks. He's as simple as can be, but noobs don't understand that you can't win every fight by just using the strongest attack over and over again.

Negations felt the same in both games honestly, when it comes to the scout ability that is. I'd argue the the recruitment rate in Apocalypse is way too high and lenient because the demons just straight up join you if you fuck up twice. Very casualised. Also only Nocturne is pure RNG in negotiations, in IV you just don't be a beta bitch around 80% of demons.

And there was a way to just deal with his lightning/status than trying to outheal the almighty spam. But I don't really know all the intricacies of this boss fight. The only characters I found enjoyable were Gaston and Dagda. Even then Dagda gets very little screen time over all. Navierre was just painful to watch, and such a wasted character. The rest were pretty standard anime, which feels pretty out of place for SMT, plus the dick sucking is horrendous at times. Story felt meh to me and YHVH felt shoehorned in, even though it was a great moment overall. I feel if they focused on the antagonists more than the myriad of characters that join you, the story would've been better because they where much more interesting.

How they presented the world in Apocalypse is a downgrade from IV. Yeah it's easier to navigate but it's set out like a line. All the sidequests just happen to be in the area the story takes place, and your level. The rewards from them were mainly just money or common items, rarely weapons, and 0 armour. Hell the armour balance was fucked since the starting armour had 0 weaknesses and was immune to light, so I used it the entire game, never needed to change.
The new music tracks weren't on par with IV's but that's nitpicking

I hate all the fags who complain about SMT4's map just because they can't remember the difference between an area called Shinjuku and an area called Shibuya but it is objectively way more convenient to go from city to city in 4:A. No need to cross a specific river, go underground a specific tunnel, and loop around the map to get somewhere anymore.

I think people exaggerate how far gone Jonathan and Walter all the sudden and Jonathan definitely does it less. Jonathan isn't a plain unquestionable lawfag. From the beginning he never looks down on Casualries like other Luxurors do. He doesn't think the people of Tokyo are disgusting unclean ones who should die. He thinks Tayama and Tayama's facility in Roppongi is terrible (Tayama is Law). In the end, he painfully decides to merge with the Archangels because he thinks it's the best choice he has for Mikado, not because he wants to exterminate Tokyo.

Walter's decision is a little more extreme and could've been done a little better but it's also not QUITE as bad as people make it out to be I think. He obviously shows a bit of regret before merging with Lucifer and he says he'll miss the MC.
