It didnt do what was promised.
There was the most minor impacts to the timeline.

Gameplay wise? Empty world, no mujahideen vs russian in-fighting, returning to the same location umpteen times throughout main ops and side ops, attach balloon to everything simulator. Aside from that, pretty solid.

Story wise? Kojima tried to pull the same pretentious "you were big boss the whole time!" shit he pulled with MGS2 and Raiden. He did the same red herring twice in the same series, that's pretty fucking laughable.

As it currently stands, MGS5 has no reason to exist. The only thing it does is show how Big Boss somehow died in MG1 and managed to reappear.

Kojima's writing has gone massively downhill in the past ten years, I can't wait to see how fucked Death Stranding is.

AKA nothing that has to do with on-disc content. It could have been expanded on (like nearly any other game), but the game is flawless in its current state.

I don't disagree with peoples complaints, but it worked for me in ways the other games didn't.

Story was inconsequential, but I loved the interactions between the characters more than any other mgs game aside from 3.

It was my first MGS game,and I thought it was pretty fun.
