I've tried GW2, WoW, FF14, and RS (both pre-and post '07)

GW2 was okay, but I hated how the abilities were tied to your weapons. Couldn't keep playing because of shitty friends and people I met that even got me to try it in the first place.

RS pre-07 was GOAT to my kid mind, and I loved the mindless grind. There was never this feel of "I HAVE to get my combat/class/whatever up to keep playing current content", and I could just chill and chop trees or fletch all day. Fishing also brought in the bank. Post-07 I just dropped it. Jagex managed to murder the game, and dunno what happened to it nowadays.

WoW, I just couldn't get into. I gave it that free month trial, tried playing, but the artstyle and the way combat felt was just so bad. Spent a good 4th of my time just fishing, because the rest of the game bored me that much.

FF14 I just picked up about 3 months ago, maybe a bit more (about half a month before SB dropped), and I haven't turned back. Combat feels engaging enough (maining BRD), crafting is interactive if tedious, and the fishing is chill as fuck. Plus, catching that Titanic Sawfish was actually hype as fuck. Can't wait to see what endgame is actually like, since I'm taking my time going through HW story right now.

For an MMO to raid and play around at endgame?
Fuck no.

Take an interest in the story and you'll be fine. If not, stay the hell away because the story is its only saving grace- and that doesn't even get good until after about 150 main story quests.

It kind of depends, it has a lot of pros, but also some massive cons.
It's slow relative to many other MMOs, but tries to make up for it with movement requirements and lots of skill off the global cooldown. Wether it manages to make up for it is personal opinion, I think it plays pretty well.
Almost all classes are boring as fuck until at least level 40 or so, but the dopamine hits of leveling and getting gear can keep you going if that works on you.

It has some fantastic boss designs, both in looks and mechanics, an amazing, varied soundtrack, very nice graphics and lots of side things to do even at max level, trivial as most of them may be.

The trial let's you play until level 35, lets you get a slight feel for it if nothing else.

You can have your dude wear anything through glamour. Some of these are lvl 1 items that you can glam onto their current armor.

Casting (Magic DPS)
Aiming (ranged physical dps)
There are also crafter and gatherer outfits that you can glamour on to other classes, which are pretty villager/shopkeeper looking.
FF has a lot of armor for every sorta look, whether you want the full armored knight or the scantly clad ninja.

In >>388718585, the chestpiece is exclusive to Samurai and Monk, but Ninja has a similar looking one in different colours (can be dyed though). The rest of the gear is Samurai and Monk but definitively have some kind of counterparts for other classes.

There's a huge amount of gear, so even though you're locked to what you can wear as your current class (you can change class at anytime outside of combat), there's always a cool outfit you can make.
