Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for anuclear winter

maybe you should take off all those clothes

The game environment doesn't really give the impression of it being hot, from the visuals or audio.

Are there cicadas in the Mojave? I feel like cicadas would have done a good job of making things feel hotter. I live in the Sonoran and every time I hear cicadas chirping it instantly feels 10 degrees warmer.

There's snow in those mountains IRL too, but trust me, the Mojave gets hot as fuck.

The days are hot but the nights can get cold, many deserts are like this.

No, I haven't. But the Mojave in the game is just a dry, brown area. There is arid areas of Canada that are prairie or shrub steppe that don't get as hot as the Mojave but are still brown and sparsely covered in dry bushes.
If you want to convey heat you need visual or audio cues. Ambient music with sound reminiscent of rattlesnake sounds, rasping or whatnot.

Camped at Lake Mead this summer. Was ~100 during the day and at night it didn't get below 95.
