They delayed the PC version of Sonic Mania to add always online Denuvo DRM.
Sonic Mania is a single player game mind you and the only online component is online leaderboards for time attack.
They also failed to mention this anywhere at all until the game had been out for hours.
Thankfully this doesn't affect console versions of the game.

Always-Online DRM for a single player game
Controller support stopped working recently (It was working ealier today afternoon)
Game is not even running/opening anymore (Was working fine earlier today afternoon)
Time Attack Leaderboards already topped by cheaters (Bravo, Denuvo)
DRM when the game will get cracked anyway.

You're a fucking idiot
That amounts to 5-10 people on /v/ at most you fucking retard

And with Denuvo they just increased the number of pirates. DRM will always create more pirates and will never fucking reduce them.

This has been proven time and time again.
>>
>>388693159
This. The developers did a fine fucking job with this game and were simply screwed over by publishers who made them spend time implenting malware instead of fixing bugs and what not. /v/ being /v/ however is filled with retards who will point at the game directly as if it specifically is the problem of it all.

Sonic Mania in of itself, (The console version) turned out to be the best sonic game TO DATE, even better than Sonic 3 & K.

Fuck sake we could run this at 2000fps
Before that idiot goes "hurr durr game logic is tied to framerate"
First off
It doesn't fucking have to be in this day and age
Second
If it is they can make integer adjustments to change the timings
Like 60 x [insert number here](for example 60 x 2 for 120fps, x 3 for 180fps etc.)

It is far actually almost as much of a difference it terms of numbers(but it feels much much fucking more)
30fps@30hz is 33ms of persistence blur
60fps@60hz is 16.67ms of persistence blur

120fps@120hz with strobing(lightboost/ulmb/benq blur reduction technique which mimicks how CRT's flickered where the screen isn't illuminated at all times) is around 1ms of persistence blur

For reference 1ms of persistence blur correspond to around 960/1000fps@960/1000hz during sample and hold
It's super smooth as fuck like very top high quality CRT buttery smooth motion back in the day if you've ever used one

If you run your game at 60fps@120hz on a CRT you get that nasty double-image effect that you get when the framerate is lest than the refresh rate.

Potentially yes but it's only worth it for 60fps games
If the game can run at 120fps or higher don't bother with it and run it at 85hz+ at high frame rate since you have less flicker that way

The trick I mentioned still means effective 60hz flicker which is atrocious so you better stay at least 4-5 feet away from it when using it on a PC CRT which usually use short persistence phosphor(1 or 2ms) and make lower refresh rates such as 60hz in particular look too flickery

so, is it okay to buy? Or will this "Denuvo" thing really mess up the computer

I am an assblasted pirate that's really bitter over not being able to play the game today. Not very noble, I know. That's one thing.

Another thing altogether is the absolute state of this release. Two weeks delay, promise of no DRM and then bam -surprise DRM without notice. There's the fact of always-online too, even if they said it's going away >>>eventually<<<.

I don't believe they're making MORE money like this than they would by letting piracy run its course. The number of people who will buy the game instead of pirating feels as if it will be negligible compared to the number of people who will refund the game and/or simply not buy. I guess some will feel compelled to pirate instead of buying, out of principle. Not to speak for the damage in their image, which up to now there was nothing to complain about at all.

They said it was SEGA's decision and I believe it.

Agreed. I'm a piratefag too because I want to replay it on my PC rather than my Xbone but don't wanna pay $40, but I was monitoring the Sonic Mania release thread and when I ctrl+f to search for the word "torrent" and "download," I actually cringed a bit at how desperate some people were sounding for it.

I have no problem with Denuvo as an anti-piracy measure. Companies have a right to want to protect the digital goods they put up for sale from being illegally distributed. It's just that they need to find a method that doesn't make the game online only.

DRM being developed for the sole purpose of preventing piracy is the Biggest lie in the industry.
DRM is aimed at used-games and controlling access to how you use them, using piracy as a cover.
Publishers aren't stupid, they're well awaew that a person who wants to pirate WILL pirate no matter what, both on PC and console.
The real thorn in their side were used games, those were legal and took and ate a huge chunk of their profits because people would just re-sell a game once they were done with it.
That's what DRM is all about, killing used games, controlling how you use their products after you buy them, earning more money.

Name one negative consequence of someone pirating a game when there is no way they could afford it.

I agree that people who pirate when they can afford the game can go to hell, but what does it matter if some poor kid downloads a game?

are you retarded? the guy is saying that poorfags aren't entitled to free shit, that's it.

>Except that's not how it should work.
Except that's how it DOES work. How is it anyones problem but your own if your country is poor as fuck? Fucking hell that's some entitlement you got going on.

You honestly think that payment methods (or lack thereof) are the real gateway to piracy? You're fucking delusional.
If piracy wasn't an option, piratefags would come out of the woodworks with their gibs. And if they couldn't pony up, then they probably shouldn't be playing anyway.
And yes, people should pay for the services that others render onto them. That's how economies work.

>And why do you think that is shit for brains?

Not because of DRM you retard. The concept of used games straight up doesn't exist in a system where there aren't physical copies

>He explained why your argument sucks though.
Where?

they should be looking for a goddamn job if they want the game. if they're too young to work, they should be studying to get a good job.

why is hard work such an evil concept to leftists? why do you want everything handed to you? lazy, inept retards.

Time and time again it has been proven that providing a superior purchased product is the only way to reduce piracy. Piracy can't be stopped. Making a game better and easier to attain by purchase than the pirated version is the only way to beat it. Rampant DRM has been proven over and over again to only punish honest consumers.

You'd realise that if you though things through for even five seconds. Who get's exposed to the DRM measures? Spoiler: it's not the pirates.

Time and time again the gaming community has proven that "it's never enough".

Also, isn't this whole thread here because the DRM has stopped pirates from downloading the game? Pretty sure I'm busy enjoying it while piratefags are all bitching about an industry that isn't giving them everything for free.

>So, why wouldn't you be a nice guys and stop shitting on them for taking counter measures against fags stealing their games?
Because the counter measures don't work and only hurt honest consumers?

Did I flash back to 2006 or something?

Fair warning, I'm about to present you some things called "facts". Try not to get scared and piss yourself. When a single currency is used across multiple territories, that currency is worth different amounts based on whether that territory you're in is wealthy or poor. Europe, for example, by and large uses the Euro. A single Euro is worth a lot more in a poorer country. But Valve can't have a single game be worth different amounts of the same currency based on location because the local value of the Euro does not influence the going rate for Euros in Dollars, the currency Valve uses as it is based in the United States. Also, people would just use proxies to get the game in whatever region it would cost the fewest Euros in, as we've seen before.

So what does this mean? In poorer European countries, a single new game could cost an entire week or months labor. This is something most people can't afford, so they pirate the video game. So, what I've been saying is that if piracy were suddenly untenable, I don't think these people would suddenly get a massive fucking video game budget out of nowhere and start purchasing video games like you claim. A majority of piracy comes from poorer regions for these extremely obvious reasons.

>And yes, people should pay for the services that others render onto them. That's how economies work.
Please direct me to my post where I claimed otherwise. Go ahead. Do it.

How are platforms like Steam not 'easy' to use?
