Like a Doom tribute done right: try to mix every game, but still keep the core gameplay mostly the same.
Honorable mentions: D4T, Samsara, High Noon Drifter, Demonsteele, GMOTA, Space Hunter, Final Doomer and Doom Delta.

>That's means i'm some random e-celeb
The fact that you were the one bringing him up means you watch his shit.

There was a mod for HL2 that let you play as Metal Gear characters. I had never played Metal Gear but it was fun as hell.
Last week I tried MGS V for the first time and I don't get it. There are fire guys and straight jacket guys and you have to wipe out the camps, but the people just respawn and you can knock people out but they just wake up so I just shoot them instead. Honestly the mod is much better.
Hard to choose between Underhell: Chapter 1, Afraid Of Monsters: DC, and the AMK 1.4.1

Action Quake?
But yeah, you really, REALLY should not play MGS games out of release order. And to be perfectly honest, you should definitely not start with, or even necessarily play MGS5.

You do know some of these modders even lurk /vr/, right? He probably left, because of fear of the replies.
Strange Aeons is pretty good.

wait, scratch that... you're talking about the "Jaykin' Bacon" mod, aren't you?
Still, don't play MGS5 (first).

Anyways the Metal Gear series just seems too stupid to continue. Really high production value though. Like, holy shit, the budget must have been astronomical.

>Anyways the Metal Gear series just seems too stupid to continue.
You have no idea what you're missing out, mate.
But that's what you get for starting with the "last" game in the series, which is chronologically the middle chapter, and gameplay-wise THE most generic openworld shooter out there. Also seriously unfinished game to boot.
Yeah, production values have always been superb in MGS series. Lack of quality has never been a problem in the series... until MGS5 happened. Thank Konami for wanting to get out of vidya biz and thus sacking Kojima.

The original quadrilogy + Peace Walker were great, and the ones you should invest into. Even the MGS5's prologue game, Ground Zeroes, was good.
TPP, however, was rushed out trash; a mere husk of potentially good game. Still clocked 180 hours to it, but the last half just dropped the ball completely.
Still, judging by your statements, you barely played through the tutorial mission before giving up, so you didn't get to see and try Fultons or anything really. Maybe it's for the best though.
>Like, holy shit, the budget must have been astronomical.
Quite high, but nothing compared to the literal 100 Million $ budgets AAA shit tends to be these days. But yeah, MGS games have always been tech and quality pushers, with tons of attention to details & replay value.

There is no other mod that has kept me coming back for years and years. Probably played for a 1-2k hours in the last 10 years.
Of all the action movie themed mods I played, this is the best one. I still fire it up now and then to play against bots.

The Milkman mod for F:NV
I loved playing Obsidian Conflict and just fucking around in harvest or betting on NPC matches
Shame it doesn't seem to be updated anymore.
A Path Beyond for C&C Renegade. I think that's what it was called. It was sweet.
A Half Life 1 mod called The Opera. It was about gunplay and movement like something out of Hong Kong cinema or Max Payne without bullet time. It wasn't overly popular back in the days but it felt really good and made for great fights.

I think he's still waiting on some other guy to finish working on the spider mastermind
>>388677318
Isn't the Spider Mastermind a hard monster to work with, sprite-wise?
Because i also heard he's working on another mod.
I only play official content.
>>388677419
I bet it would be, considering all them legs and how high she is off the ground.
I don't think he's even shown off what thefuckinganimations are for the mastermind.
>>388677761
Most other Spiderdemon sprites were either edits or something completely different (See FreeDoom and Simpsons Doom), so according with what i heard, one of the best sprites for the monster is this mash up between the classic Spider Mastermind, its reboot version and a non existing version based on Doom 64.
