you don't need to move that fast, and since it moves faster diagonally you can easily dodge the big laser. it's more than enough to handle that fight

I'm fine with having to make an arena for a boss, but having to litter a fucking runway with regen shit (honey, heart lanterns), buff myself to hell and beyond just to not get the fucking SDMG as a boss drop after 10+kills god damn fuck.

Arenas count.
Set up a nurse shack with a bed in it, set a spawn point.
Magic Mirror (or better, recall potion) to safety and heal up when necessary, jump back into battle.
Don't worry too much about the nurse getting hit, she can heal herself rapidly as long as she doesn't get hit too much at once.
Better yet, wire teleporter pads out of the nurse room. Take advantage of the fact that moon lord needs time to warp back to you.

Kill the titular lamia enemy in hardmode underground desert (takes a while to get all parts though). For my particular setup, you'll need the sunflower chestpart that the clothier only sells during parties.

Yeah, I realized that finally. It's not even so much that you have to grab all your shit again, it's that you have to equip it all yourself, re-organize, hope you don't die again with your full inventory as you're trying to make room, and the annoyance of other players walking by your shit and grabbing it.
The mode seems like a beginner's trap "Oh, how bad can it be, it was fine in Minecraft" but it's way different.

Dude, you made the right choice. Don't play those modes if you're just trying to play through the game, explore, and have fun.

Play hardcore if you want to challenge yourself after getting good.

Mediumcore just seems like an irritating time. So personally I don't advise ever playing it.

Shame the host had to shut it down after a some time and had to start adding solar eclipses and stuff to kill us off, and even spawn bosses after a while.

We were in the process of filling a large area with background walls to avoid monster spawns. Centered around the old treehouse everyone hid in during the nights.

Had to thicken the floor, since we had a murderer who knocked out the floor of the treehouse under another player so he fell to his death. Died, ip banned, a new player joined and said hello, then he was killed by a slime.
