i played this like 5 years ago. I remember getting into duels with other random low/mid tier players.

One time I was a heavy weapons guy and for starting out you use mostly the flamethrower. Got into a random encounter fight with a pistol user focused on crits. Before I could close range on him he crit my arm and I couldn't use my flamer anymore because it's a 2h weapon. I was able to flee before he crit my legs.

Another time I was with a buddy hunting for golden geckos and we came across some guy. My buddy was one of those pacificst guys who thinks it's morally wrong to do PvP. The other guy was scared of us and was like "please don't kill me I will leave!" On my turn I swapped from the flamer to the missile launcher (which we just acquired) and fired a missile at the guy. He gibbed and his blasted corpse flew across the screen. My buddy was horrified.

I guess i'll download it now, play some FO2 and see ya'll in two days!

You can own your own caravan and trade goods at your very own barter stand.
Or you could be mercenary for an NPC caravan and get paid well and also get to loot the dead.
You can be a slaver and sell slaves to metzger for a living and spend it all on jet.
Or you could go the next level and be a full fledged raider, hated but everybody, but also feared.

You can buy a room in various towns, but as far as owning your own building in a town, no you can't.

For example, at the Maltese Falcon you can own a room and you get to keep it for I believe an ingame week.

Otherwise if you're a poor wastelander, you just make a tent near a town.

It used to be hard as fuck to make caps, but since NPC caravans came along it's pretty easy.
Just keep your reputation in check otherwise they won't let you ride with them if they don't like you.

It's realtime fighting everywhere in the main areas.
As far as encounters go, you can select between realtime or turnbased if you pass the outdoorsman check.
If you don't pass the outdoorsman check, the encounter will be realtime by default unless you change it in the config.
