Absolutely not.

Only in one or two aspects that make it feel more like a sequel to 3K. But it also has a lot of things that go backwards from 3K and overall Mania is much much better in so many other ways.

No and it's never getting that 4th game you want.

Now that the definitive version of Mania is out, not at all.

Certainly not. First of all, the quality of the level design is still nonexistent on the latter portion of the game. The focused on making it "too hard" and the quality falls off as a result.

None of them even come close.

People cling to Advance 1 as the best one, but it's only better than Sonic 1 and also planted the seeds of putting generic red boosters in all stages. It's also really short even for a Sonic game.

Mania is the only Sonic that actually stands alongside 3&K, and you can make a case for it being better off of the sophisitication of its level design.
