Do you not remember that they were bleeding money for years and their inability to make good decisions took them from global powerhouse console maker to barely relevant publisher?

The American branch has always hated the jap branch and the japs never learn. The same morons who fucked up the company in the first place are still calling the shots in Japan.

Word to the wise, the only thing worse than dealing with chinks is dealing with japs. Asians are the fucking worst people to deal with when it comes to business. THE WORST.

The delay alone caused at least 3k people to refund according to SteamSpy. Denuvo would be enough for another 7k. Either way, Sega loses sales and gains none. Everyone is frustrated, bottom feeders on the internet show support for some EPIC shitposting fueling the flames and Sega finds themselves in a PR disaster despite being rather decent publishers up until now.

Because the japs are the ones who own everything. American branch is just an extension of them so they can deal in America without penalties. In any normal company, they are also supposed to help them adapt to a different culture which obviously doesn't work when you are intent on forcing your way of thinking down the throats of a completely different culture.

Sega is just one of the worst ones. All japs have this boner for DRM. Most jap games wouldn't come to PC before not just because they didn't realize there was a market but also because they didn't want to sell games without any protection which is what Steam provides and why you don't see most of the jap games on GOG.

It's not as if SEGA can do their work without them. Fuck the reason these fan-game developers were developed to begin with, was because SEGA themselves had finally realized that they weren't able to make good Sonic games themselves.

I highly doubt that has changed. So refusing to work with them again would just be the equivalent of refusing another quality Sonic game again. So it'd be up to SEGA to make that choice, and then justify that in front of their investors.

Delaying a game on PC always makes it sell dramatically less than if it had released simultanously with the console version. It's not that it can't be pirated. It's the fucking opposite. In about 3 days pirates will have access to a superior version that can be played offline.
>>
>>388645307
The PC gaming community pretty much destroyed 'normal' gaming for themselves because everyone is under the mindset that you are free to pirate anything and everything, that it is an inalienable right to them, and nobody pays for anything. It's one of the reasons they have so many shitty ports, because developing a proper game for pc is such a risk, you genuinely don't know if everyone is just going to steal it, so it 's clearly not worth the effort. Oh but, PC users like to say they only pirate because it's a bad port in the first place, yet that just makes the issue self-fulfilling. PC users pirate if the port is shit, and because they pirate, people have no reason to make sure the port isn't shit.

These days they still can't be trusted to just game like normal humans, they have all that drm shit constantly checking on them. They're essentially wearing a permanent tag and under house arrest, criminals who can't be trusted not to run wild looting everything like a bunch of niggers.

>>
>>388656618
>Oh but, PC users like to say they only pirate because it's a bad port in the first place, yet that just makes the issue self-fulfilling
The onus is on publishers and devs to make games on PC worth paying for, not for PC users to pay for gimped DRM riddled versions of games before they can be "trusted" enough to get proper ports.

These days game publishers can't be trusted to just sell games like normal companies, they have all their DRM shit which ultimately drags down the product and makes it not worth paying for, because they and you have deluded yourselves into believing you can defeat piracy by making a worse product and then somehow coerece people into buying shit ports.

The problem with your publisher-first mindest is that you expect PC consumers to bend over and get FUCKED in the ASS like good little paypigs or else they don't deserve games.
>>
>>388652738

All store bought games and DLC on PS4 are hard locked to your "main PS4" so if you want to use them anywhere else you have to be permanently signed in. On X360 if you aren't signed in to XBL all your DLC becomes locked, and I assume it's the same for XB1, correct me if I'm wrong. Consoles have gotten a hell of a lot worse for DRM. Nintendo most likely doesn't have the DRM of the other two because they are ten years behind with everything, so next Nintendo console will definitely have DRM.
>>
>>388658224
Let that be a lesson to sega:

You want to maximize sales with delays? Ok we can deal with that, but YOU DONT FUCK LEGIT USERS WITH DRM!

I'm honestly shocked at the current state of this website. Yeah, we made racist jokes sometimes, but it was all fun, right? Our entire fucking site is subverted because of fucking nazis.

The internet is OUR platform. the LIBERAL platform. Racism, sexism, misogyny, were all confirmed to be left in the past because millenials are the most left-wing generation of all time. So why in the FUCK, do we still have to deal with nazis IN TWENTY-FUCKING-SEVENTEEN? Despite how much you wanna cry about how it's just a conspiracy and a boogeyman, Russian hackers ARE real, and this site is proof. We went from one of the most liberal sites in the world to supporting Orange Fucking Hitler? Nope. It's up to game companies to make good games not gimped by DRM to impress enough for anyone to give a shit about paying for them. PC gamers do not owe you money for shit ports.

It's extremely difficult to salvage a game's image after launching it with a bad port. First impressions matter a lot, and most people aren't going to be constantly checking if a port was fixed after it's known to be bad at launch.

The PC gaming community pretty much destroyed 'normal' gaming for themselves, much in the same way pirates destroyed "normal" flims, music and TV shows for everyone. Piracy is such a powerful force that it can cause massive destruction despite obstacles like “baseless supposition” and “lack of evidence”. It’s the Freddy Kreuger of any business: you can’t ever see it because it damages you in your dreams, with the injury magically becoming real, but then it’s too late. It’s that strong
>>
>>388659289
So they have no incentive to improve a port post launch in case it fails. That other anon is completely right in that the issue is self fulfilling.
PC sales are pretty strong now but they're still weaker than console sales so they get treated like second class citizens. Things will only start changing once the ratio gets much closer to 1:1 sales between the two.

I guarantee its gonna be at least 2 weeks (aka when most of the sales are made) before they let you play offline.

>Being a digicuck
I get that on PC you literally don't have a choice thanks to Gabe "the fleshy dyson sphere" Newell but consolefags can buy physical games that aren't held back by online checks and the like. It's one of the main reasons I switched to console recently, because GoG lacks 99.9% of recent releases.
The console itself is only DRM in the sense that a vinyl player is DRM for vinyls. Only a PS4 can run a PS4 game blu-ray, because no other system is setup to run it correctly. Maybe in a decade or two we'll see the Retron 25 with a faux-PS4 on the inside

Not even that anon but this is a horrible analogy. You don't need to buy a specific brand of turntable to play specific records. If I buy a copy of GTAV for Xbox One, which is also on a Blu-ray disc, it won't work if I try to play it on a PS4
>>
Stealth going after them hard on that Steam announcement, it's fucking great. I love Stealth's bluntness sometimes, like when he said on-stream that anyone talking about how easy it would be to add X or Y character have clearly never done game development of any kind.

>All japs have this boner for DRM. Most jap games wouldn't come to PC before not just because they didn't realize there was a market but also because they didn't want to sell games without any protection which is what Steam provides and why you don't see most of the jap games on GOG.

So is this the reason why Sega has the absolute lowest ratio of "console exclusive" vs "also on PC" games for a Japanese publisher? Besides ports of old games, they literally don't make PC multiplats at all unless a few years have passed since then.
>>
>>388645307
He's not saying he hates it, just that it wasn't his call and people need to direct themselves to Sega.

He probably loves it for the fact that he was paid to make something and people are forced to buy it, meaning a fatter bonus check at the end of the day.

>>388652903
It's just PR deflection, which is the same as Taxman up in the OP. He probably specifically mentions DRM due to all the comments and tweets about how upset people are about it, and instead of the twitter account being flooded with complaints, he just redirected them to somewhere else.

>>388661308
He's never been the one Sega favored, so probably already done now that the contract ended. Stealth has been rejected in the past for things, like offering to get Sonic CD running on the DS, and just seems to be a code monkey to Taxman's engine more than anything. Add in the fact that he's a bit of a prick to deal with and I could see why he had to be taken onboard as a different "company" for Mania.

If SEGA Of America becomes independent, you'll just regret wishing for it. The japs keep the jews at bay.
