This. A lot of people try to shit on it but it was cheap and it's gotten the job done so far. My rig was also lucky enough to run Arkham Knight at launch with almost zero problems aside from the intended 30 fps.

Yeah, just turn off Depth of Field or set it to the lowest. Apparently having the Depth of Field setting at it's highest causes 38% framerate hit.

What do you think is gonna happen when the bitcoin market pops and everyone is selling their cards at the same time?
The market is gonna be completely over saturated and the prices will hit rock bottom. For card manufacturers that would be a nightmare so it makes sense that AMD would try to prevent that.

>buying scam: the sequel
It's so fucking bad that you can port your old characters. I mean, how is that a fucking new game? It's just more dlc split up so you can throw more money at them.
If you wait a year you can buy it for 10 shekels (not joking) since then they'll release "destiny 2: first season pass included edition" and then the year after that will become worthless because you can buy "destiny 2: first and second season pass edition". Have fun throwing 300 dollar at them while purchasing the same game 5 times, I'll happily wait 2 years so I can get everything for 5 bucks.

>>

I have no idea why i bought a 1070, I only game on 1080p (144hz monitor though).

I was debating whether to get a 480 (or two) or a 1070, and when the 1070 was on sale for 330 while the 480 just came out at 200, I decided to just go with the 1070.

Wish i went with the 480, since those things are selling at insane prices, and I only game on 1080. Picked up an oculus rift bundle recently, but I heard 480 still runs that well

Yes, I don't have one. All I have is Gsync 144hz monitor (overclockable to 180hz but contrast ratio suffers badly). But I read plenty of reviews of 240hz monitors. And basically all say the same thing "there is not much difference but it will feel slightly better than 144hz".

It's really simple to get 60+ FPS with a 580 GB if you run High settings at 1440p.

Just changing Depth of Field from Highest to High gains you like 20 something FPS.

While you're not wrong, the mining bullshit is not typical. You really should wait this time, gpus are way too inflated right now.

1070 has a much better value in price vs perf and isn't as big a power hog, will last many years at 1080p and stay viable at 1440p for at least a few, even pushing >60 refresh rates. Unless you have a 4k screen, in which case 1080.

Maybe it's because I play FPS at a high level but it's a huge difference for me, immediately noticeable if it's not enabled. Anyway here's a 144hz webm for your trouble.

Runs like a dream 150-200fps at 1080p but thats about the only thing it has going for it. I guess the artstyle can be appealing but the poor looking engine/modeling does it no justice imo.

Everything about this game feels shitty and bland to me and i cant see me playing this over Titanfall or Overwatch which have both vastly superior multiplayer.

Major red flags:

Features on the motherboard that you don't actually need. Tbh most people way overspend on motherboards, but don't get a bargain bin either, just be realistic. You don't need an extended length 4 PCI-E slot monster with "Xtreme" slapped on everything, even if you buy a $400 CPU and plan to overclock. Get a well featured ATX or mATX that has what you need and nothing more.

"Budget" power supplies... Seriously, invest in something good. Modular cables makes air flow and management so much easier, and get one that is at least 80+ gold certified. It'll cost a little more but this is actually worth it since you'll be putting in hundreds of dollars of sensitive components to it.

"Gamer" cases. No you don't need a side window or rgb up the ass unless you really want it. You don't need a behemoth case either, just get one long enough for your GPU and deep enough for your CPU cooler and you will be fine. People like to overspend on cases for aesthetics but come on it will be on the floor by your desk legs anyway.

"Gamer" RAM. You don't need a big fancy heat spreader on your RAM, in fact, many heat spreaders actually reduce cooling performance. Get RAM with the best specs per dollar. You don't need more than 16gb either.

When buying a GPU, more fans / bigger card is not necessarily better. Single fan GTX 1060 performs and cools as well as dual fan in most cases unless you live in a notably hotter climate. You don't need 3 fans on a 1070 or 1080 either, even when over clocking, as long as you get a good brand with good cooling solutions.

Lastly, for CPU, it's honestly up to you what you get, just make sure it's appropriate for your system.
Even people with a GTX 1080 rarely need more than what a top end Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor can provide esp if you over clock with a good cooler (unless you play lots of CPU intensive games).
>>
>>388665526

Ah, yes, because 16x AA and maximum motion blur are surely more important than a higher resolution. Swap those settings out and you could still easily top 90fps 0.1% minimum at 1440p with a 1070. Resolution and FPS are more important than fancy post processing for a shooter, I'm not sure why you'd advocate for the opposite.

Ever since I've upgraded to an ultra HD monitor I've realised how much of a bandaid high AA really is. Going from 4x to 16x can be as big of a performance hit as going from 1080p to 1440p yet it looks worse so literally why do people do it.
Motion blur is rarely good looking in games anyway and makes high refresh rates look worse imo so I usually reduce or disable.

gold almost pays for itself in energy savings and it's a lot quieter because higher efficiency = less heat
>>
>>388668781

Not him, but spending a little more for a more reliable PSU isn't going to break the bank compared to the costs of other components.

Granted, you're not going to need some 800W monster for the average gaming PC, but Gold vs. Bronze is a difference of maybe $20.
>>
>>388668874
Ah I understand, sorry.
Well for prebuilt computers, the biggest problem I've seen is bundling shitty graphics cards with over-the-top CPUs, or other unnecessary extras that aren't useful.
I'm sure you could find plenty of reviews online about prebuilt computers and which ones are good value and sometimes they really aren't much more expensive than buying the parts separately, sometimes even cheaper.
If you have any techy friends that could help you out that would be your best bet but looking online will be fine too, mainly the takeaway from what I said earlier is avoid the "gamer" stuff unless you really want to spend some bucks and avoid computers with super high end processors with crappy graphics cards.

My biggest gripe is the constant recommendation of logical increments as a defacto guide despite that guide pushing plenty of nonsense about value and extra spending. If you're gonna buy a 1080TI now is the time, sell your 1070 while it's still in demand from the mining market, and buy a 1080TI (which miners don't purchase due to the memory being bad for mining) with the proceeds

>>
>>388673480
Anon it's literally impossible to completely get rid of jaggies. You zoom in far enough with even the highest AA setting and you'll still find jaggies.
At a certain point using AA at a high setting is just wasting performance for little to no extra benefit.
>>
>>388673680
No shit but if you have a high enough resolution monitor with a decent AA system then at a reasonable seating distance you won't notice any aliasing (that's what it's actually called, retard, who the fuck calles them "jaggies"?)
That other anons post was about the game using FXAA which is a post process method that does contrast detection and then blurs ye nearby pixels which is an objectively shit AA system and makes the scene look worse every time.
MSAA and SSAA are the only acceptable anti-aliasing methods and can prevent any resemblance of aliased edges on high resolution screens
