Yes, all Yakuza games have missable shit. 2 is far easier to miss shit because a lot more than just sidequests is missable. Heat actions are missable as well and you need to get ALL of them if you want to unlock the final sidequest.

Yes they're missable , some can be done later on and one is completely missable if you maek a mistakte during chapter 4. Also you can still fail all the sidequests. They only changed that stuff in later Yakuza games.
I'd say just play through the story for now and see what you can find here and there and after that either try it again with a guide or wait for Kiwami 2

Don't make the mistake I made. I started the hostess club sidestory way too late and at the end a certain amount of time has to pass or something for the last event to happen, so I could never finish it.

yeah there's a lot of missable heat actions that are area specific.

I just didn't want to ruin the vibe by running down a checklist looking for all the side content. I had fun just walking around the city when there was downtime in the story and letting bumping into things naturally.

Fair enough, I'm too autistic not to look up FAQs when I know there's missable story content (sidequests) so I did it, but I don't recall hostesses being mandatory for the sidequests or Amon.
