Just look at what's become of Monster Hunter and its fanbase since going to Nintendo.

Thankfully, that's all in the past now, and they can finally start undoing the damage that almost 10 years of exposure to Nintendo's toxic fanbase has caused. Almost the entire philosophy of the game screams 'reinvention', reinvention in this case meaning they are taking back control of where they want MonHun to go, rather than what entitled, childish Nintendo fans demand it goes. I was awaiting the announcement of XX before buying a Switch but then at E3 they announced World so now there's no need. If they don't push World any further in future releases and go back to Switch or 3DS then I'll buy/stick to those platforms.

This too. Switch is basically a gen or more behind PS4 and Xbox, it's even weaker than the WiiU. It's not going to be running anything more intensive than the equivalent of an early/mid lifespan PS3 game, and that's with major downgrades, and even then it's still going to drop frames and look worse.

Trying to get MHW to perform on Switch is like trying to get Crysis to run on a 2007 toaster. It just isn't gonna happen without severe butchering and downgrades to graphics and it's still going to look and run worse than on the proper, intended hardware it was meant to be played on.

I'm more pissed that MHXX isn't being localised and they didn't mention this when the game was announced. I bought a Switch as a show of support when MH was announced and ended up giving it to my sister because there's nothing on the fucking thing. Money isn't an issue for me, so I don't care about that. I just wanted one of the few games I actually buy Nintendo systems for to be on my new Nintendo handheld. If Nintendo haven't got MH, what good are they? Honestly, is Mario and Zelda really enough for everyone else? The problem with that is that 'toned down' games usually have shit optimisation anyways. Look at the abysmal Shadows of Mordor PS3 port that gutted pretty much all of the effects and even had to sacrifice core systems. I'm not expert at how powerful the Switch is but even 'toning down' a game like this might result in it having low FPS which is key in action games like MH (even if it's combat is more slow and tactical)

Anon the game already runs at 30fps with drops. Unless Capcom gives the porting job to a completely hopeless group then there should be no problem especially since it's MTF2 which is an incredibly versatile engine anyway.

Capcom just wanted a better platform to make their games on.

Monster Hunter is niche in the west because it has on Nintendo homeconsoles and portables with 90% of its mainlines games.

It's a chicken or the egg kind of situation.
We know for a fact that every other platform supports 3rd parties on average much more than Nintendo owners (after the SNES era, before then they'd buy 3rd parties just as much as Nintendo 1st parties) and handhelds aren't nearly the phenomenom in the west as they've been in japan, not for the same reason a least.

Anecdotally I know of many people who'll buy MHW because it's not bound to Nintendo systems any more, even friends who already own a 3DS but had no interest due to (relatively) shitty controls and poor resolution. With the current Twitch/Youtube culture and the fact that there's no big MonHun release on handhelds by Q1 2018 I don't see why MHW wouldn't sell well enough in the west. Sonyfags are glad that MonHun is back on their platform, Xboners are permanently desperate for games, and PCshits never got to experience mainline MonHun outside of emulators.

Compare the first ever MonsterHunter where armor skills were more of a gimmick than anything else and you had 4 bullfangos & 3 ioprey on the map as well as heavy vegetation obscuring your vision and big monsters with relentless attacks that would often chain-stun you with no chance of recovery to MHXX where you have 5 different passive armor skills active, hunter arts, hunting styles, mounting, much better weapon movesets and two companions with their own armor/weapon sets and skills.

MHW is doing nothing new when it comes to QoL changes. MonsterHunter stopped being your kind of game after gen2. If you want "muh hardcore" go back and play those games. They still exist you know? No one can rob them from you.
