>Every Level Is Too Long: The Game
>>388620187
>I'm a Faggot: The OP
>>388620187
It's always easy for me to get completely immersed in Point Insertion.
I kind of agree. Even though the scenery changes, your arsenal grows, the enemy arsenal grows, and there's a new gimmick every few sections, the baseline combat is just so... anemic and mundane. It somehow never really rises in intensity, making much of the game a monotonous slog.
It's GREAT the first time, but repeat playthroughs are just not.
>>388620187
>playing the canal section
>ok that was fun, now what?
>oh you have to play it again, this time you're allowed use a gun
>wow thanks valve
>>388620187
Considering you can save anywhere, I don't see the problem. The first game's playtime was mostly on surface tension and on a rail felt longer than it needed to be.
>>388620187
>Please buy licenses for our engine: the game.
>>388620187
>Ravenholm
>Highway 17
>Sandtraps
Best levels in the game all put after each other.
>>388622929
That's not a good thing
>>388620187
I liked that though, it was always nice to think the end is just around the corner but instead be surprised that it was nowhere near the end. One of the things I loved about HL2 though is that you could trace your steps right back to city 17 all the way from Nova Prospekt, even though the game didn't let you, it was nice to have a sense of where you came from and the distance you travelled.
wrong image op
>>388620187
the levels are nothing but text pop-ups, anyway.
>>388623246
What the fuck? Manias length is perfect.
>>388621912
>the baseline combat is just so... anemic and mundane.
Lack of creativity you have.
>>388623361
The game is blatantly broken up into distinct levels
>>388623136
It is if you want to replay all of them in one go
>>388623957
i didnt actually play the game im just shitposting
chapters retard not levels.
>>388624538
>semantics
They're only called chapters because Laidlaw was writing a big boy story for serious gamers
It's an anonymous imageboard. You don't need to try so hard to fit in.
>>388623957
Can you read? It literally says "chapter," not "level."
>>388625268
It's a videogame, they're levels kiddo
>>388624659
theres mutliple areas in a chapter you could consider levels. again chapters =/= levels retard.
The only level in HL2 that could be a little shorter is Highway 17, every other part is fine.
>>388620187
Half Life 2 is boring as FUCK
There I said it.
>>388625686
What about VNs? Paper Mario?
>>388625881
Highway 17 is fine, It's meant to be slow paced. Water Hazard however....
>>388626081
>visual novels
>bing bing wahoo
>Videogames
>>388620187
Isn't a game being too short the most common complaint /v/ has for games?
What the fuck does it take to satisfy you people?
What the hell is your Goldilocks zone?
>>388625686
Untrue. Each chapter is divided into "maps," not levels.
>>388625686
Each induvidual map is a level and they are a lot shorter than HL2's chapters.
>>388626141
what is this, looks so fucking dope
Water Hazard was the only part which felt overlong.
>>388625939
Go get a yourself a cookie, champ.
>>388626294
depends on the game, dumbass
>>388620187
>I prefer Call of Duty levels, the person
you are just mentally retarded
>>388620187
Absolutely fucking not, nearly every level was the perfect length
FEAR on the other hand
>>388626286
VNs was b8 but I think chapters work fine as a concept in the Paper Mario games considering that it's presented as moving cutouts of a storybook.
>>388626561
Call of Duty maps are unironically more open than HL2's mile long corridors
>>388626561
are you the guy who posts "still better than cod" on all those video game trailer on youtube?
>>388626757
the saddest thing is that you are right.
>>388626757
your unironically clinically retarded
>>388620187
I agree
>>388623246
but yer sonic and ya gotta go fast
I prefered Half Life 1
there's only one driving section
>>388627089
>21 hours on Episode 2

>>388627131
You drive the minecart several times lad
Remember Ascension?
>>388626561
>fuck CoD, Half-Life rules!
>2017
You need help
>>388626650
You have garbage opinions if you prefer HL2 to FEAR in any aspect at all.
>>388627262
I dont like to drive so I continued on foot.
>>388627374
no. HL2 has better level design
>>388622929
>highway 17
dat atmosphere, dat bridge, dat crossbow, dat visual design, dat gameplay and exploration
literally the best(my favourite)level in the half life seriesCaptcha- select all images with bridges
>>388627360
He just needs to get ahalflife.
>>388627416

>>388627693
MODELED
>>388620187
>not Half-Life 1
It's a great game but I couldn't believe it was still going by Xen.
>>388626473
shitty russian bootleg with 3 games crammed into 1 cd. at least 1 of them doesn't work and others have cut content.
>>388627963
Half-Life 1 had good '90s level design, Half-Life 2 is the father of all corridor shooters
>>388622929
Literally everything after and including Ravenholm is brilliant, I usually stop playing at some point in Anticitizen One.
>>388620187
Never liked how we were expected to pretend HL2's cast were all in HL1
>REMEMBER ME FROM BLACK MESA??
Episode 1 is a bit underrated, it had some pretty good looking levels and the reactor room with its energy sphere looks fantastic.
>>388627905
DYSON
>>388628483
>It took Valve 2 years to release a 3 hour DLC
why did we ever think 3 would ever happen?
>>388627262
maybe he replayed it with the developer commentary

Hope is a powerfull force.

You are wrong
>>388627374
>another retard who thinks in absolutes
I prefer FEAR overall but its biggest downfall was the levels dragging on for too long
>>388627131
and it was more tedious than every hl2 vehicle section combined

>>388627905
