Wasn't all that bad. There was no way they could have topped P4, with it's well done murder mystery, great soundtrack and sublime waifus.

Maybe having it set in Tokyo was a bad idea, going too big. The only thing that actually feels big is the clusterfuck of a subway station. Having dungeons disappear after the time limit was also a huge step back. Memeontos was supposed to remedy this, but is bland as fuck.

Persona 6 will hopefully be more like P4.

Naoto and Yukiko were fucking trash and Teddie sucked until he got a physical body. Most of the S.Links sucked too, aside from a handful like Ai, Naoki, and Dojima.

Persona 5 has a much better party and way more good social links.

Wish I didn't buy into the hype. Everyone in the party is annoying, the player character is a non-character who just nods along to everything the others tell him to do and feels pathetic, the battle system is functional but way too easy to break, and the story drags on forever despite it not being interesting anymore after the first few story dungeons.

Music was nice atleast.

Goro was obviously set up by the story as sketchy from the start in japanese media these kind of characters that seem super nice but are in a position of power and are not friendly from the start or are part of the group/inner circle are always evil. Its a glorified visual novel. The only reason hard mode was alittle hard was because physical attacks crit like fucking crazy and so you can get scummed out quickly without a phy/gun immune persona on deck most of the time.

Admittedly part of it is my fault cos I bought into the overhype and shilling. But even so the full game was a bore in itself compared to what I was anticipating when watching the trailers.
My expectations were really high but in the end what I got was a pretty lukewarm experience.

That's the issue. It's nothing new at all.
I bought it hoping it was P3-4, with most of the problems those two had fixed. It was kinda that, only some of their fixes just made more issues.

The models were amazingly well done though, they get 10/10 in that department.

i think that P5 is one of the most polished and well crafted JRPGs to ever come out. my only complaints to the game is everything after Shido. it felt really unnecessary and tacked on (like Izanami in P4) and they should've just fleshed out him and Goro more for a bigger ending. i know they had to wrap up Mementos and Morgana's origin somehow, but it was just kinda shitty overall

P3 still did the lead up to and the actual ending the best out of the modern Persona titles

Yes, it should. You expect improvements, fixes for known issues and slight changes to the formula in sequels, as opposed to stuff like P5 replacing the dungeons with worse dungeons and adding a few bonuses to a system that should've just been improved.
It is quite literally P4, just with better visuals and smoother gameplay. They took zero chances whatsoever.

A series that doesn't change is pointless, you might as well just sit there and replay P3 if that's your opinion. You're obviously not expecting or looking forward to any form of improvement in the series.

I would be okay with this game because it looks and plays pretty good, but the first thing i always look at is plot and characters and it was bad. I though that playing p4 before 5 would be a good idea and it just made things worse because i had something to compare. I mean 4 has a lot of stupid moments but it just felt good to play and learn everything.

The problem with "fixing" the dungeons is that people usually do at least 2 playthroughs of the game. Random dungeons always suck, but they're straight forward. The dungeons in P5 are sometimes fun to explore but some are so boring that I had to force myself to play through them a second time. The ship being one of the worst offenders since it's like 80% hallways.

Way better than P4 but characters and imagery werent as powerful as P3. Although I'm not sure if they're even trying to achieve the latter. When it comes to the combat and gameplay it's by far the best in the series but that is to be expected.

Also the MC has a really good mix of personality and non-personality for you to project onto. I refuse to believe there are P3 fans who don't love P5. P4fags can go kill themselves.
