Not nearly as bad as the fucking robo-scorpions in OWB. I played a ballistic weapon character with an explosives specialization and just gave up and took the robotics perk halfway through. Those little shits can take several grenades from Thump-Thump to the face without a scratch.
Atleast the fuckers in your pic can be killed pretty fast.

If u invest in lockpicking and take the pulse gun from vault 34 i think, they become a piece of cake. Spamming pulse grenades also helps. Tunnelers may not be that hard to kill but when 10 venomous spams me and knocks me back every second i sometimes die before i manage to shoot each fucker in his tiny big eye head

If you use More Perks mod around explosives skill 80 there is a perk that allows you to blow locks with explosives no matter the diffculty level so u dont even have to bother with lockpicking. The gun does shit ton of dmg to robots even without energy weapons specialized character

I did Dead money from the get go at level 1 on my last playthrough. Just make Melee one of the the initial 3 skills to have some extra points in. Then when you get to the Sieddra Madre, just pick up the first Spear you fine. I mean fuck, I nearly did the whole thing without firing a single bullet.

Once again, these are also not that hard provided you approach them right.

Just invest in Melee getting to around 30-40 by the time you get to OWB. Pick up the first Proton axe you find. Then proceed to make killing every robo scorpion a chore rather than an actual challenge.

I think the only remotely difficult part of OWB was the Lobomoties in the Cuckoos Nest.

I specifically skilled my character into a direction and this build was simply not viable against these fuckers in any way. Well, like I already said, I got myself robotics expert and just turned them all off with a stelath boy. And I had no pulse slugs or pulse grenades because on hardcore they are a waste of space in the Mojave where you meet a robot once a week at best.
The point is, they are a bitch to deal with and absolutely annoying enemies without any fun factor. Not even destroying them feels satisfying, they just explode right in front of you and drop nothing worth looking at.

Going back to the divide at level 50 and every mob that spawns is a few deathclaws. It's ridiculous but I can usually 1-2 shot them w/ anti-mat rifle. These fags are actually more of a headache than the claws.
