Just beat it. Thoughts on the game compared to similar titles like SS2 or perhaps Bioshock? I thought it was a solid game, 9/10. Plot twists and ending were interesting.

What was with the orange swirls everywhere and especially around the earth cities at the end?
>>
They tell you what that stuff is in game. It's a pretty big plot point.
>>
>>388610256
This. I honestly forgot what it was called but it was like a neural network for the typhon. They went pretty into detail about that stuff, how did you miss it?

Anyway, great game, underrated gem and will be played 15-20 years from now as a "retro" classic like SS 2, mark my words. Good gameplay, good music, great atmosphere, and engaging story.
>>
My personal GOTY. Maybe the best SciFi game I've ever played.

I believe they mention it being the collective consciousness of the victims which they weave I to the "coral" which the apex(?) consumes.
>>
>>388610005
Way better than the Bioshock games, I'd say it's on par with SS2 but the final hour or so of the game was the worst for me, I enjoyed the game so much but at that point I just wanted it to end which was a shame.

>Backtracking out the ass
>Enemy variety is garbage
>Combat is as simple as it could be
>Usage of typhon abilities is highly discouraged for no actual reason

At least the exploration aspect is nice.

Solid 6/10
>>
>>388611381
This, partially.

The station eater and sudden loss of gravity were kind of cool. The game was a bit too relaxed 'till the drones and this stuff.
>>
Even with the sale no one cares about this shit, serves it right.
>>
>>388610005
>same year as BotW launches a new Nintendo platform
>no advertising
The actual GOTY will be ignored, sadly.
>>
>>388612453
The advertising was terrible, most people couldn't even tell what kind of game it was before release.
>>
>>388613364
It's still being advertised as WHOAH NASTY ALIENS DUD TIME TO RIP EM APART WHOOOSHHHH
>>
>>388610005
Feel like the good ending should've been a lot more difficult to get. I'm a do-gooding pussy faggot so I got the most empathetic cheevo right off the bat but apparently you have to try real fucking hard to get the bad ending.

>Usage of typhon abilities is highly discouraged
By January, who should've already given multiple reasons for you to distrust.
Nightmare is not a threat.
>>

That's the point, it just shows how carefully crafted the simulation that Alex built is.

Yeah, it's a bit of both.

And

Based on trailers I would say that it's just a horror shooter.
Compare that to:

>Guns shown, but emphasis on dialogue and the setting.

Could've done a better job for sure.

If it had better enemies it would be the uncontested best immersive sim, the level design is extremely impressive.

when I here immersive sim I think something like the sims but first person or something, not system shock derived stuff

I had some serious gripes with the games after i was finished with it
>All turrets and military operators get broken when you leave the area
>Psi pool upgrades are human upgrades so making your alien abilites more effective is impossible on a pure aylmao run
>All the choices, quick saves, touch decicions i did and didnt make didnt even matter because no matter what the earth is destroyed because it was all a simulation of Morgans memories
>Only consistant way to kill weavers is Q-Beam
>btw Good luck trying to fight military operators without hack 4 fucko
>Never found a use for the quest item wedding ring
>Had to re-load capturing dahl because he kept clipping through the window and into the fan outside
>Full damage upgraded shotgun was far too powerful and ammo far to easy to come across
>Had to bump up the difficulty in the middle of my run
All in all i had a good time with the game tho
>>
>>388610005
I tried the demo, it was fun but didn't bought it cause it doesn't have bosses
>>
>>388615387
>Only consistant way to kill weavers is Q-Beam

Well I just popped their shield with the pistol and then blew them the fuck out with kinetic blast
>>
>>388615387
>All the choices, quick saves, touch decicions i did and didnt make didnt even matter because no matter what the earth is destroyed because it was all a simulation of Morgans memories

It defined who you were. The story of Earth and the space station is irrelevant, just like a bunch of labeled choices are irrelevant and the ending is mostly defined by stuff like going out of your way to help someone.
>>
>>388615387
Even on nightmare the shotgun makes the game a fucking joke.

>Find it in the first hub area of the game
>Never use anything else
>Don't level typhoid abilities because of story reasons

Absolutely shit combat design just GEEZ.
>>
>>388615387
Weavers just die from a couple pistol bullets.
I beat the game on nightmare with no mod and that's how I killed every single one, few bullets to remove the shield, few more to kill them.
>>
>>388615698
Because you chose to play it the shooty bang bang way, it's not a shooter.
>>
>>388615321
I did. Purge xenos no matter what. Also killed all the humans in the game and made sure I died as well.
>>
>>388615875
>Play in the optimal way
>It's wrong because ???

Right' o fucko, maybe make the enemies so that not doing the same thing ad infinitum isn't the best way to deal with them, hmm..??
>>
>>388615875
It's actually much more fun to play it like a shooter (time slow and murder) just so you can explore and look around in relative peace. Stealth is gay.
>>
>pick up transcribe
>sometimes it auto-plays
>sometimes you have to hold a button to play it
>sometimes it just goes into your audio files without any option to play it
>list of audio files in inventory doesn't have any indication of what you've already listened to
why
>>
>>388611657
The variety is pretty decent I don't really get this complaint.
>>
>>388616213
I had a bug mid game where every audio I picked up would default to playing the nightmare summon song, even though nightmares are weak as fuck. So I had to look through that list everytime.
>>
>>388611657
>backtracking out the ass
>atleast the exploration is nice

not even trying
>>

BACKTRACKING TO ALREADY EXPLORED AREAS IS NOT NICE

Are you fucking retarded?

>Mime
>Standing mime w small variations
>Floaty big mime w turrets, humans or floaty explodies.
>Turret

Whoah geez what a huge list of enemies good thing they are all weak to the shotgun/wrench combo.
>>
>>388616268
>electrtic phantom
>normal phantom
>fire phantom
>psychic phantom

wow much variety
>>
>>388616096
That's assuming stealth and shooting are the only two ways of playing the game.
I killed almost everything by luring them into hazards and turrets, and then finishing them with the wrench. I bet most people didn't even use the typhon lures.
>>
>>388610005
The game was interesting and enjoyable for me to proceed until all airlocks got closed again.

But Notch would love to go to the kitchen, he's as fat as they come.

And I wouldn't actually mind if the reason was something reasonable like
>Crew quarters have hive or something dude go get it or face more trouble later on!!

Which would give me a soft incentive to go there, as I'd either have to go deal with it or be assaulted by improved/increased alien activity

Instead of absolutely asinine things like
>Hey I know you saved me from a floating container in space and that we're all going towards impending demise and it's more dangerous than ever but hey I really would love it if you could go to the other side of the station to grab me something to remember my wife by that'd be great haha ;) by the way I teleported here through four telepaths and one weaver but don't tell anyone shhh

Literally have to go all the way back there to press q and pick new object then walk all the way back because there's nothing else to do there and holy shit just thinking about it makes me absolutely livid.
>>
>>388616498
Those "small variants" you're so quick to disregard have great significance in how you approach combat with them.
You also didn't mention the mind controlled humans.
>>388616504
It's a decent amount of variety. What more do you want?
>>
>>388617105

Bethesda treated the game as an investment to keep the IP. As far as I know, if you've recently acquired an IP you have to use it in order to show intention of use. It's why Sony made those new Spiderman movies a few years ago.
Otherwise the people you bought it from/licensed it from can successfully challenge you in court.
