Draw the custom stages you and your friends had fun on as kids, goyims. Y-you had friends, right?

This one was my group of friend's favourite. We thought it up during recess and built it as soon as the weekend started. Many a hours was spent fighting on this map. We called the little compartment in the center the "Bone Zone" We made probably hundreds of maps, and would often split the screen into 3 sections where each one of us could design a section.

We even discovered a bug with sonic's right B spin dash that only happens in custom stages. If you use the right B spin dash on a stair or diagonal drop through platform then released it you'd fly off through the air as if you're still on the ground. Needless to say that got incorporated into a few stages for fun. [even though we all hated sonic, such a boring character to play]

"kingdom of varandallia" or just the sacred banister.

It was the first stage I made on brawl and as usual it is based on a banister.

Made a box.
Maximum size, opening one block wide on top left. Conveyer belt went to the left to drop items in.
On way in, one way out. Damage levels would easily get to the 500-999% range before they would have too much momentum to even hope to tech on a wall and stop.
Only items were bobombs, barrel bombs, smart bombs, and soccer balls. Max spawn rate.
Boys became men in Box Matches.

Didn't there used to be an online stage planner program? It predated the game's release, in fact. I remember making a bunch that didn't wind up being possible in the actual game due to memory or placement limitations. Or the blue blocks not being water after all.

Anyway if it still exists it'd be useful for this thread so anon can recreate his stages to post here.

I'm pretty sure everyone did this. I remember putting spikes on the top to prevent spawning outside the Funbox we called it. What song did you have playing in it? We had the Sonic Heroes theme going.

This map was feared.
I think you could also make a map where you'd have a box and place spikes on the top of it, so players would spawn inside with absolutely no way of getting out or dying.

Here's another submission. Danger Zone. There was a gentlemen's rule that you could not camp the side blocks as we needed real floor for players to spawn on. Matches on this would be intense, I'd usually bring Falco, one of my buds like rob, and another would bring Luigi. We'd tend to play a lot of characters though for every kind of experience. We left the mains for smashville, our 'final destination' map.

>>388602080
We had a very similar gamemode where we'd let the game go to sudden death then everyone would pile inside a box with a respawning dropping block on top so we couldn't escape. The only way to live was to tech and hope to whatever gods above that you weren't the one to glitch out of the box first amidst all bobomb rain and the other attacking players.

>>388601578
Banisters are a good aesthetic for a game like smash, anon. :> Makes me imagine warriors fighting atop a giant gothic arch or a lil kid playing with action figures on the railing of the stairs.

>>388601879
Brawl came out Jan 2008, anon. That's 9 years ago. For people born in the 90s that'd put them at 7-17. 1995 master race reporting in.

>>388602123
That'd be cool but there's a nice feel to /v/ mspaint pictures. An a e s t h e t i c, ya know. I've never heard of a stage planner, though. I'd just draw stage ideas with my friends in the dirt during recess or doodle them on paper in class.

Yeah I made one for fucking around in. It's not quite idiotproof - Fox/Falco/Wolf's Final Smash will get you out of it and then you'll keep respawning outside instead of inside - but it's still great fun for using instakills at high percent and just seeing how much momentum the opponent gets.

Well, I was mega assblasted that my boy Isaac didn't make the cut as anything but an Assist, and even more assblasted they put the only Golden Sun song in the game on a fucking Metroid stage that didn't share even the slightest aesthetic with Golden Sun. I of course instantly set about correcting this injustice as soon as I unlocked the appropriate CD. A huge tower, with elevators on the sides, and a giant shaft down the middle. I had initially planned to make a ball of spikes for the Elemental Star, but they didn't let you do that so ultimately it was just the tower.

Sm4sh's editor and its lovely addition of lava changed all that, though. Now there's a big flaming ball of death right smack in the middle, and those who get knocked into it typically get dunked right down the central shaft. Naturally everyone hates it but me.

That honestly sounds hilarious. I'd play in such a tourney. Fun pits make a man out of boys.

>>388602390
My hell boxes would have king dedede's theme playing, for maximum hype.

>>388602729
Playing on something you made just had that magic feel, right? Even the trash was grand cuz it was trash that you made. Plus the stages where culture could develop were always so much fun. Having dedicated "bone zones" or strategies that everyone just discovers together really made the game special.

>>388602757
Back throws inside the hell pit must have been hilarious. Stocks would drop really quick on this map I bet.

>>388602771
Best part about maps like these was that everyone always agreed that entering the box was the right thing to do. Having a 3 man gandorf knee/dair/elbow battle inside one of these was hilarious.

>>388603420
>You didn't still play outside when you were 12.
I grew up in the sticks with no internet/cell service so we were all very innocent children. We were still playing town wide mission impossible, hide and seek, bike tag, and kick the can til we hit high school and had to ride a bus out of our village to go to school.

The elevating platforms looked super cool. You could get them to form a single helix by timing your placements of them correctly. It wasn't that interesting to play on but it was a neat decoration.

We used to try and compete to make the most unplayable maps without resorting to the ol' "box where you can't get KO'd unless you glitch through the wall" levels. I really liked this one, had a lot of strength in its simplicity, where the pit was so side a lot of characters couldn't even jump across.

There's less weird gimmicky prebuilt stuff than in Brawl, but the editor itself is more flexible. Ultimately it's a bit of a sidestep rather than an upgrade.

I was going to fire up my copy of Brawl to look up some more of the customs I did but it seems that
A) my Wii disc drive no longer functions and
B) somebody replaced my copy of Brawl with a copy of Melee, possibly as a "hilarious" prank.

Well, one that's not too hard to represent with MS Paint is the 2fort stage. I was big on the idea of large scale team Smash battles. It'd be great to remake in Sm4sh, if they let you do 4v4 customs... and if fall blocks still existed, which is what those orange segments were. That was to promote not camping in the relatively safe ground floors of each "fort."

I built a king of the hill stage where there was only 1 passable platform near the bottom and 4 blocks that fall if you stand on them too long at the very top. Players would have to fight to get on and then keep the 1 platform

I backed that SD card's data up on my PC before ditching it all to use that card for Project M. I hope it'll still work if I try to use it again sometime just so I can look at them all once more.

Used to make a series of stamina based stages similar to pic related. You could pass through the corners of blocks connected to fall through floors by dropping through them and jumping into corner of it; letting you leave and re-enter the cage as you pleased.

IIRC they got Nobuo Uematsu to do it.

Which is probably why it's the best and most versatile theme Smash has yet had.
>>
Made one with two small platforms on either far end and a "bridge" of falling blocks connecting them. It was really simple but actually incredibly fun to play on. I liked it better than most of the official stages in that game.
>>
I'm probably misremembering a thing or two, and the proportions are a bit jacked, but whatever. but this was basically it.
The yellow is ladders, the blue is ice, the purple box was some sort of structure, I forget which. The ramp in the middle of the left tower was stairs. The ladders on the left were out of reach for a few characters, I recall.
I remember it was a bit too large and empty for less than 4 players. The little structure generally served as a final smash bunker. but I think I made a version without it because one of my friends figured out Snake could basically camp there indefinitely..
