What the fuck is wrong with Heavy and Engie being weak on offense and strong on defense? They're defense heroes you dipshit, this is not a design flaw in the least. I would also argue "Strong half the time" is completely wrong for Sniper and Demo: Sniper way less than half, Demo way more than half, and there's no 1% in which Medic is not a strong pick, the Medic determines the entire pace of the game, not to mention that a well-played Pyro can be effective at combat as a Soldier, Scout, or Demo inb4 muh competitive 6v6, that metagame basically hasn't budged in 10 years

Because it causes stalemates and locks them to a specific role where they don't get to be full-time viable. Also because Heavy's design is not interesting, and because their roles overlap too much.
There is no good reason for them to be dedicated defenders. It's just bad for the game.

in HL Sniper dominates the entire game, in 6s the Sniper is full-time viable if you have an extremely good one (which is as things should be) and taking Medic's high usage rate into account, which skews practical viability, Sniper is being used the perfect amount. Same goes for Demo in the other direction, considered the weakest 6s class, yet a constant fixture in the lineup

I wonder still, how long will this update be compared to the other class update, heavy? After the Meat your match, pyro won and gets an overhaul first while heavy gets second. It's been a over a year. These updates should not take OVER a year, try a tri-quad monthly update feed or let the community work with valve with a situation like this already.

Heavy's will most likely be much shorter.

From what we know so far, Pyro Update is going to be:

>rebalancing weapons for all classes
>bugfixing
>new SFM movie

Let me explain to you why that's wrong.
We want to balance TF2 in the minimum amount of effort. We want to make all classes and all weapon unlocks balanced (to create a broader variety of player choice) with as few changes as possible, because Valve works slowly.

Stock Soldier (RL, Shotgun, Shovel) is already a balanced class. However, Escape Plan makes him stronger than other classes.
This means that if we want TF2 to be balanced we have two options:
>buff every other class up to the level of Escape Plan Soldier, and buff all of Soldier's melees up to the level of Escape Plan
or
>nerf Escape Plan down to the level of the other Soldier melees
It's obvious to see which option takes less effort.

I mean, let's say we went with your solution and buffed Equalizer up to the level of Escape Plan. Problem solved, right?
Shovel is still useless, all of Shovel's fun reskins are still useless and wasted, Half-Zatoichi is still useless, and Soldier is still better than other classes thanks to the advantage Escape Plan gives him.

You buff or nerf based on what will make TF2 a balanced game in the minimum of possible changes to save time, effort, and risk of failure. Which means:
1- rework stock classes that are bad for the game
2- buff classes that are weaker than the majority, nerf classes that are stronger than the majority
3- rework weapons that are bad for the game
4- buff weapons that are weaker than stock, nerf weapons that are stronger than stock

This is why Escape Plan gets nerfed. Escape Plan Soldier is better than the majority.

all you have to do is slap a passive downside on it and it will be useful and interesting still, but will have an actual opportunity cost for choosing it that gives people a valid reason to choose other options if they like them

Eyelander is always my go-to example for this, it's more useful as a combat weapon than the Bottle, but it's still balanced relative to the Bottle. Why? Passive 25HP penalty means that if you're not focusing on your melee combat, you'll choose Bottle over Eyelander

Escape Plan can be the same with a passive downside such as "-25% healing from all sources on wearer" or something

You're in the minority anon. The vast majority of Soldiers choose the Escape Plan out of the seven choices- 32.5% of pub players, and around 99% of competitive 6s players (where DA is banned, however I think DA needs nerfing too so that's moot).

The Gunslinger, as it stands, is currently almost perfectly balanced relative to the stock Wrench. Minisentry needs no buff. Lots of people use it already, it's one of the better balanced weapons in TF2.

What needs to happen is for the stock Engineer to get a nerf to his defensive, turtling abilities, and a buff to his offensive, supportive, mobile side. This will increase the pace of the game, reduce the prevalence of stalemates, and allow Engineers to be full-time viable in 5CP for the people who enjoy them.

I'm sure a intelligent team can destroy a sentry with a fee stickis, rockets or a combination of both without much hassle.

First, stop getting assblasted my man, this is a casual conversation. The game might have starter as a 8v8 and launched as a 12 v 12 butbthe entirety of the every single update up until maybe mym was based around 12s.

Second, ranked csgo and dota are the exactly same game played in casual. Tf2 ranked not only is much different than casual play but most weapons are either banned or not viable, team numbers is pretty much half of the possible normal amount in casual games.

The entire game is based around 12 and it is what makes some classes shine on their designeted roles, spies can mix among the team to fuck shit up, engie defends the point aganst team push,medicc heals the team and provides invulnerability to psuh and etc.

For the game to work on ranked it would need a completely roster revamp and the entire game would suffer for a mode that is barely alive and doesn't even have servers for all regions.

That's 75% of the DPS.

So it builds 6.3 seconds faster without boost and 1.575 seconds faster with boost.

True, but it's still enough to survive a shot from the Rocket Launcher.

Also, you forgot the fact that

Reverting the Mini-Sentry back to its pre-Gun Mettle Update state would be a terrible idea. The Gunslinger used to be completely braindead to use, built in 2.5 seconds regardless of whether or not it was hit and began construction at full health, meaning it took multiple hits to take it out while constructing. This would lead the attacker to be at a notable clip disadvantage for the Engineer to rush him with the Shotgun.
