do you guys not talk about this? I just bought it like 2 days ago and have been watching streams--what should I be focusing on as a beginner? dribbling?

Actually hitting the ball, positioning
etiquette

as an eSport I expected a super cancer community like LoL, Dota, TF2 etc but everyone's been super nice so far

Positioning in relation to teammates is IMO number fucking one on the list of shit you should know. Teammates piling on top of each other basically makes the game both less fun and it's a guaranteed loss if the other team isn't also doing it.
After that, controlling strikes, hitting off the wall, basic aerials, dribbling, hitting to teammates, advances aerials in roughly that order.

because they added a new autoban for cursing.
also, people care less in lower ranks (if you're even playing ranked)

I've been playing the offline season--why do my AI teammates always hit the ball in our own goal??????
>>388568027
because they're badly programmed. they won't even go on walls.

Seconded. Before anything else learn good positioning, then follow up with stuff like boost management, double jumping, wall hits, and aerials. There are community training modes if you feel you need them, but just playing the game should be enough.

Not dribbling yet. Just focus on how the ball bounces and the trajectory of the ball and your jumps and trying to hit the ball on the nose or corners of your car. Positioning is probably the most important but figure out mechanics first.
