MKX and Injustice 2 are much better in comparison to SFV. They're balanced and actual complete games. Tekken 7 is also a good choice. Maybe Blazblue or Guilty Gear would be worth considering.

On fightcade it's either older games of established franchises or games that got a cult status. Not every game is played and when you try to tell people to play them some would say "I want to play the new one on PS4/XB1/PC"

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

I'm always shit at KoF, but I've had fun with the new one. Hard to find local players. Been playing Rev 2 and Central Fiction off and on with friends locally and I find both of those games great if you're down for ridiculous anime stuff.

I've pretty much given up on SFV and I'm just waiting to see if they do some sort of revision or something. I tried my hardest, my friends as well, to pop it in and play on fight nights or go to local areas and play but it gets boring so fast. Sucks since I like that some Alpha and 3S characters are in but even that can't keep me playing.

I tried getting into card games last year and know Hearthstone was the most popular one, but doing research on it revealed some pretty bad consumer/developer communication and balance issues so I double taked and tried both Shadowverse and Gwent instead.

The latter has always been barren; with its fanbase focusing on other things but the fighting game; even the /v/ threads of it are proof, although the Steam groups have weeklies if you check it out.

Pretty much. No one ever likes to take the blame for losing because they cant admit theyre shit. Even when you train yourself to hold L's, losing itself is a very uncomfortable feeling, especially when the skillgap is wide or the match is 1-sided. It takes a certain degree of masochism to appreciate the genre; which is something not all people have.

The easiest criticism that comes into mind regarding american fighters is that the characters don't stand out from the stages at all. Everything's the same color and dark as shit, and there's too many gimmicky lighting effects that make it even harder to tell. Also, the animations look weird and american developers regardless of genre have never grasped that you need to refine hitboxes and framedata until the game can't fuck you over. There are so many american games where no-hit runs are impossible because that shit isn't synchronised or predictable.

Xrd has been alright up until Rev 2 despite YRC being the worst mechanic of any FG ever, but Rev 2 is a piece of shit. Buffed top tiers and nerf mid tiers. They made YRC even more retarded and the made the game less balanced.

The only good FGs on the horizon are the Arika game, Arcana Heart Six Stars and the Arika fighter. Samsho 5 special port should be good too.
