I don't enjoy DMC or Platinum action games. I think they're masturbatory and serve no purpose. Learning combos and timings is good for fighting games, where there is a practical purpose being tournaments and other events. The moment i will never forgive this game for was right before collecting Ramuh a cutscene plays, Gentiana tells you "the lightning strikes where the stones are" then a text promp appears that reads "follow the lightning to find the stones" the back to the game obvious as fuck lighting in that direction PLUS the quest marker shows where the stone is.

They needed to add more skills, possibly skill trees to build characters, and better equipment drop rates, exploring the world isn't fun as well since you don't find anything useful. I didn't see anything particularly wonky visually when I was playing. There was a weird audio bug during Ardyn's big monologue to Noctis where I couldn't hear dick due to Noctis's screaming being several magnitudes louder than Ardyn.

Mind you the game still isn't good, but the visuals were fine for the most part.

Too many problems to even come close to that imo. The movie and anime is already a thing that should've never happened. The game should've had a good prolouge in insomnia with your bros and your father and it slowly turns into the peace declaration stuff and then the invasion happens and you'll have to escape with your party while your father stays behind to fight. Would give you actual reason to care about your homeland and your father and a reason to actually hate the empire.
Also it has too many small problems, getting in and out of the car takes too long,sidequests apart from 3 dungeons are just bad even for FF standards, only one hunt at a time, passive abilites from duscae are removed so now only stats count, magic is just big AOEs that your party members usually run into and die, not ONE optional summon, rather important things happen offscreen or are told through snippets of the movie or your cahracters reading about it or hearing about it on radio, combat gives you tons of options but 4-5 are so good that the others are not worth it and no enemy really gives you a reason to use anything special. Luna also should've either been a completely different character that has a different role and shows up way more often or just be removed from the game. If you remove the throne scene at the end you could easily remove her from the game and not much would change. The Royal Arms are also weird, at first the game acts like they're really important and like you'd have to collect all of them for some reason, but the main story only leads you to 2-3 of them and then never brings them up again.
Not to mention all the "XV Universe" stuff like mobile games and shit.
If it was just a new IP by another studio i wouldn't even care this much, but it's a mainline FF, you'd think they try harder.

It's so obvious that they couldn't quite put the story together after the rewrites because they were using characters and settings that were designed for a completely different kind of story. As one example, Tabata explains that the characters wear black because it's a royal color, but in Versus it's because Lucis worships the goddess of death, which was central to the story. So they took all these designs and tried to fit them in a sanitized and more mainstream story, which divorces it from the very reason these design choices were made.

This is FFXV's biggest sin in my opinion: it lacks an identity. Tabata tried to make it as close to Versus as possible but removed almost all the elements that defined Versus in the first place so it could appeal to a wider audience.

The story is fucking fantastic. The art direction is wonderful and very comfy. A lot of the gameplay touches are so charming. The only real "problem" is that it's pretty casual in terms of gameplay, but I still find myself coming back to this game to relax and enjoy camping with my boys.
