Because I would've liked to see Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to go out on a quest to stop ~~Eggman~~ together, now that they are friends and all. I mean, they could have done it, since there was "& Knuckles" mode in mania. All they needed was two AIs on screen at the same time. I wouldn't care about switching between them because that's a heroes thing. Then again, That's what Classic Heroes is for
