Yes, you are overrating something. Of all the Infinity-related soap operas, the most noteworthy are Ever17 and I/O, and even they are far from 10/10. 999 is simply a diluted Ever17 ripoff, with Ever17's main twist adapted for DS format, and with Saw-lite art-direction.

I think it's hard to pinpoint that 10/10. Giving games a rating on a scale like that is an advertising gimmick and always has been. The list right there seems arbitrary as hell. I take it you're not just looking at IGN reviews and giving it an honest try, but there are so many layers on which you can judge video games on.

I mean there are games that incepted it's own genre, or at least had outstanding influence on it. But then why put Doom on there but not Wolfenstein. Why put Pacman on there but not, say, Pong. Yeah it's cliché as hell and we don't have to pretend we've been around at the time where that was a thing, but still, it's one of the first things akin to what we would now call a video game.

You can judge games by players, mass appeal or whatever, but then I guess you also need to include World of Warcraft or Clash of Clans. Because truth is, half of the list just seems like a list of top sellers with a huge advertising budget.

Tetris, for example, the old game boy game, it was nothing special if you don't account for the numbers. The game existed for a while beforehand, it's a cool puzzle / reaction / whatever you want to call it game that's fun for a whole while and challenging, and was really solid on a mechanical levels, BUT the single reason everyfuckingbody and their pets played it is because it came with every game boy and was one of the only games available when the system was new. A launch title, if you will. Had that game hit later you'd never have heard of it.

Imagine if Concer's Bad Fur Day had been a n64 launch title and didn't come out after the gamecube hit the stores. You fucking bet people would be praising it as an eternal 10/10 now.
