>>
>>388439029
off the top of my head, the places in the image you can visit in one or more games are nirn, masser, secunda, shivering isles, coldharbour, soul cairn and apocrypha. also an imperial space station that is not pictured
>>
>>388439287
wait fuck, you can visit quagmire too in tesiv
>>
>>388437750
Fantasy lore isn't worth anything if the story doesn't utilize it
>>
>>388439389
Also not pictured we go to the Pits in oblivion as well as Boethia's realm. Both look pretty much like the deadlands though.
>>
>>388437750
Has a few interesting bits, but for the most part it's dry, uninspired and boring as fuck. Kind of the epitome of quantity over quality.

It's pointless fluff that has little to no bearing on the actual game, and most of it was written by a stoned retard who found a book of Hindu mantras in a gutter.

Nirn is just the normal world, right?
Shivering Isles in Oblivion (which I never played, only started TES last year with Daggerfall and now Morrowind), but I think they were part of Nirn and you could go by boat.
I'm also curious about space stations. How do they get there? Levitation spells?

Nirn is the world you are on, yes.

Shivering Isles are a plane of Oblivion that belongs to Sheogorath. You reach a portal to the plane by riding a boat out to the Niben River.

>space stations
The Battlespires. They're massive fortifications for the training the Imperial Battlemages that use magika to travel. They were constructed during the Reman era where space travel was common, which is also when the lunar colonies were established.

>>388441759
He had some degree of godhood from fiddling with the heart. In addition to that he achieved one of the other means of reaching godhood (theres five or so I believe). In my opinion, just as a precaution, he decided to completely rebuild the world from its core and insert himself as a necessary component of its functions.

>one piece of art

No, it's all the things people are talking in these threads about. Limited amount of things people reference here are from Morrowind, but all the rest in nowhere to be found in any of the games. You cannot observe or engage any of this in the games,

It's just EU fluff at best, but it's not even commercially released, so it's more of a fanfic from a person who used to write for Bethesda a decade ago, that's why it makes sense only to people who autictically read every in-game book in Morrowind. These threads are a bit sad, people here are literally LARPing that TES has interesting lore.

You can't. They used to visit in via magicka in the first era, but its exorbitantly expensive and fell out of practice.
>And when is space travel first mentioned?
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Pocket_Guide_to_the_Empire,_3rd_Edition/Arena_Supermundus
>Visits to Aetherius occur even less frequently than to Oblivion, for the void is a long expanse and only the stars offer portal for aetherial travel, or the judicious use of magic. The expeditions of the Reman Dynasty and the Sun Birds of Alinor are the most famous attempts in our histories, and it is a cosmic irony that both of them were eventually dissolved for the same reason: the untenable expenditures required to reach magic by magicka. Their only legacy is the Royal Imperial Mananauts of the Elder Council and the great Orrery at Firsthold, whose spheres are made up of genuine celestial mineral gathered by travelers during the Merethic Era

So /v/, I recently played through Morrowind again, completing both expansions for the first time and now Oblivion is next and I want to install some mods, I mainly want to change the retarded leveling and scaling system, which is fucked beyond believe and just not fun in vanilla, I noticed there are some mods just for that, but I ran across Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, I believe it doesn't change the leveling system, but it does get rid of the awful scaling and seems interesting otherwise, which would you recommend /v/, the Overhaul or just some leveling mod?

No, the factorum are more straight up mechanical. The Clockwork City is able to instantly replicate anything in clockwork form, so you have clockwork people (and things like clockwork nix hounds, fabricant shalk, etc). More straight machinery than the magitek Pelinal was.

Also remember that TES3MP is out and quite functional.

I find the overall world in which TES takes place pretty interesting
it's just that the micro-events and conversations are so cringy, both by shitty writing and engine limitations
prime example is the final "battle" in skyrim, in which there's a battle between 7vs7 standard guard NPC's

the grandest combat feeling in the series is easily pvp in ESO across the entirety of Cyrodil. armies of dozens charging across miles with their mounts towards fortresses filled with dozens of other players, nightblades picking off stragglers from the pack. it's incredible

Kirkbride wasn't the only good writer at the company.

During Morrowind's development the programmers/writers (same people) got in heated arguments with the execs/idea guys on how the game should be. After Morrowind launched, they all got fired, kirkbride included.

Kirkbride was just the craziest of the bunch, but a lot of good content and worldbuilding was also done by others who get no appreciation.

I love reading these lorebooks about the dwemer, for instance
but when I hear the NPC's talk, it's just isn't believable at all
they all speak very statically
some may disagree, but I found the NPC lines from the witcher 3 much more "organic"; or realistic, for a lack of a better word. Like someone in that situation would really speak. In TES, it's like they're all reading lines from a piece of paper like it's a 6th grade show and tell

There are replicants in ESO that are copies of existing people, but there are also humanoid fabricants like the ones in WoL
>>
>>388462496
Well the problem is that they hide most of it in books rather than referencing it in the actual events and quests. I think it's really nifty how they have all that shit available but you have to have at least a little bit of autism to get into it.
>>
>>388462167
>>388462167
Because again, Bethesda simply isn't interested in telling a story. The setting is an interchangeable element to justify the sandbox, and with every game that only becomes more obvious. Characters only exist as questgivers and quests only exist as randomized breadcrumb trails to lead players along. Giving the player actual motivation or investment to follow that trail along is secondary.

TES3MP is a mod for Morrowind that's a fork of OpenMW, it's not ESO Morrowind.

No need. Most facsimile go nuts pretty quick. During the fight in Sotha Sil's trial it clones party members. And they are awful to fight.

It's okay but it's an MMO and those are never great.
>>

It went to cosmetics cash shop, the sub is kinda needed(I usually don't admit this) if you want to keep playing in the long term since you get crafting bags and double bank space which are needed with the increasing amount of crafted sets that are coming out.

So the basic gist of the 5th Era is that the Thalmor managed to leave Mundus and caused the Numindium to reappear who in turns goes on to wipe out all races on Nirn with the exception of the Dunmer and Khajiits who went into space and the Redguard who went to Oblivion and became cyborgs? Magicka I'm guessing.

Part of why the Imperials dropped their space program is because one of the main things harvestable up there is raw magicka leaking in from aetherius, but to get out into space in the first place, you need magicka to fuel your ships. It's a crap return on investments, because you likely expend more resources than you bring in.

Space exploration and exploitaton picks back up post Landfall though, but more out of necessity than seeing proverbial dollar signs.

That Tatterdemalion mod looks great. Not sure what sort of horrific monsters would be living on the moons' surfaces though, aren't they supposed to be lifeless besides Mundrian expeditions?

how could you even colonise a place like that - in c0da the Velothiid seems to have water (silver water, albeit - Lorkhan's piss or something?), and they still have things like moon sugar and sujamma; is it all imported from the old world? Or do the mer (and I suppose men, pre-c0da) who go to these places go to the moons with the belief they can grow stuff there

or does being a giant plane of dead thing make Secunda and Masser highly fertile land?

Not by any means, they're not barren moons, but more akin to rotting worlds. And there's plenty of moon sugar. In fact the entire moon is moon sugar.

Makes me wonder why lots of nations basically dropped all this super high tech stuff instead of refining it.

>imperial troops could be spess mehreen-tier geneticslly engineered ubermensch
>weapons satellites in orbit to threaten belligerent nations with the threat of having your capital erased either by a high energy stream of condensed magicka, or firing a giant ebony rod from orbit
>no reverse engineered dwemer tech for automated mechanized infantry, or dwemer power armor, or numidium like super robots that use mathematical calculations as weaponry
>>
>>388474747
Lots of political upheavals and heavy costs.
>>
>>388474640

> they're not barren moons, but more akin to rotting worlds
What might be living on them, then? Aedric spirits from long ago, whose minds are warped by their slowly decaying host? Did you work on the Tatterdemalion mod yourself?

>And there's plenty of moon sugar. In fact the entire moon is moon sugar.
should've known that. colonising the moon must be hard when the lowliest peasant can just scrape up a handful of moondust and get high off their tits
>>
>>388474747
it probably sounds like edgy atheism when i say it out loud, but i think most other races are fearful of their "gods". the dwemer based their civilization on the actual truthful explanations of the world (the inner workings of nirn resembling clockwork) and have proven on more than one occasion that gods can be tricked as any mortal. not to mention many can be defeated through physical means. they are essentially just more powerful lifeforms

>KINMUNE (Kinetically-Interlinked Nirnian Multi-User Exoform) started her existence as any other proxy-synthetic of the 9th Era aurbical mining guilds: a limited sentience deep-pressure capable "thot-box"—a dreamsleevishell used by remote mortal operators to run the rigs of Kynareth's illicit breath trade. Able to stream several live-wire mortal proxies at once, Kinmune was a top-of-the-line Hazardous Conditions Warprunner Exoform of an ayleidoon hegemony nearing another unceremonious end.>But then the Hist-Jilian wars spilled out of a Wheelian rip into the SubSys slice of 'brane-space, and things changed for Kinmune. With the outer colonies separated from Nu-Mundelbright chronoculic sync-net anchors, maintenance of space-time beyond the F-Shores faltered. As the barely-there Hist blink-root-ship armada fired an artillery barrage of 16th-dimensional mathematics at their Jilian enemies, impossipoint detonations stippled across the Ix-Egg and its clutch-satellites like some garish TalOSian hologram, only without the irony. Kinmune's synthetic body, caught in one of the blasts, suddenly found itself in the Ysgramorim, her mind an aggregate of the residual personalities of her last several users
