stance switching is incredibly awkward and the way the combat deck works makes fights incredibly predictable and boring. it's very hard to mix people up after fighting them for more than a couple of minutes as they learn the entire flow of your toolkit and there's no sort of throw or proper high/low system.

You have moves with super armor, with hitstun, with dodge properties, and some that are just damage or quick jabs.

It's not even meant to be a single player game though, the "story" is just a tutorial. The bread and butter is the PvP, where it's faster paced and more varied combat.

PvP is currently just you finding random people in the world so 1v1s 1v1v1s or 2v1s. That or going to the arena which is just 1v1s. There will be 1v1 ranked matches and 3v3s coming soon. More gamemodes might be added be we don't know the details on it.

Story is sort of dark soul esque but it's very barebones, currently its you are a useless fuck and you don't want to be one anymore so you go to this place and train till you are not useless. Will be future patch and content updates that will expand on the story and world.

You have to join a school that has that style and then max it out, once you max it out you then unlock the style and can switch between styles anytime between combat. You can learn every move and use it but each classes special abilities steer you towards what kind of style you want.
If your looking for aesthetic either windfall which is all about fast moves, and dodges, or drunken style, which is all about crazy/weird movements, and delays meant to fuck with your opponents head. Kalht is if you want to be a heavy hitting brick house, and parry is if you want to be in between all that.

I played the invite.

Its not that good. The 'pve' can be beaten in a few hours, and the pvp gets old fast because if the enemy has 100+ ping, you're fucked.

Everything in the game is way more fast paced. Turtling up causes you lose stamina fast, and take damage. Plus you customize your moves by adding sweeping attacks, charge attacks, and stamina break attacks. Not to mention feinting is instant, and allows you to mix up your attacks a bunch.
You could still technically turtle in the game, like by playing Kahlt, but it's actually tricky to pull off, so not any shmuck can just sit there and wait for an opening.

Kahlts will be able to break through, yes, but their costs for not successfully doing so are potentially doubled compared to other classes.
