>/v/ says a game is good
>it actually is
It's rare, but it happens.
There was a time when you could trust /v/'s recommendations pretty reliably, actually.
It was a long time ago. Nowdays, people rarely recommend at all, definitely not in large enough numbers to establish any kind of statistical relevance, and everyone is way too preoccupied with shitting on everything and proving how hardcore contrarians they are.
>>388421978
It's a shitty visual novel.
>v is one person
>v ever being "good"
>>388422295
But it's comfy.
>>388421978
>pic unrelated
>>388422474
Wow, you managed to put two different completely vapid bullshit memes that people on /v/ say without having the slightest idea what they really mean into a single post! Congratulation.

>>It's a shitty visual novel.
>Anon then proceeds to make 50 RPG maker anime, and 30 Japanese visual novel threads
>>388422669
Well, that is nice to hear. But I'd bet that for every single one person who actually enjoys the game, there is ten or more who find themselves either too confused, or flat out annoyed by it.
>>388422295
You clearly are a brain dead console faggot that has an attention span of a brick, whose interest can only be kept by loud sounds and explosions.
>>388421978
/v/ is often right when it says a game is good and it's not a weeb game. It's when /v/ says a game is shit that it's wrong most of the time.
VtM:B is an Immersive Sim and all the good games in that genre automatically become cult classics.
>>388421978
I don't know whether to thank you faggots or hate you for making me piss so much of my life away.Maybe it's a good thing Bannerlord is never coming out
>>388423410
do people play this game so much because of its singleplayer or multiplayer?
>>388423635
I've never touched multiplayer. I put that many hours into it because of the different mods for it really, vanilla gets kind of bland pretty quick.
>>388423410
Don't fool yourself, it's not like you were going to do anything better in those 1k hours.
>>388423635
I sank about 300 hours into single player before I tried multiplayer just to go back to single after 30 minutes
I love VtMB but it's a shitty game in all honesty. The gameplay is pretty much an afterthought.
>>388423932
>>388423743
Thanks, I'll try it out then.

It happens all the time. /v/core is probably my favorite niche of Western games
>Vtmb
>Deus ex
>SS2
>Thief 1 & 2
>Stalker
>Witcher trilogy
>Mount and Blade
>Doom/quake
Etc etc. Some of the best taste out there imo
>>388424060
yeah, /v/core has really worked out well for me, although I played and loved some of those games before I checked out /v/
I'd also add the fallouts (1, 2, NV) to the core if we're going by /v/ popularity and praise
>>388424060
Legacy of Cain, Arcanum and Fallout are great too
>>388424060
>It happens all the time.
People are mostly just reposting lists that were completed to reflect frequent recommendations almost ten years ago. They don't get updated, you rarely ever see these being posted as candid recommendations rather than just people saying "here is /v/ core, stick with that". Rec threads usually die very fast or devolve into terrible shit-flinging and people intentionally posting shit recommendations just to derail the thread.
The current state of /v/ in this regard is pretty damn sad.
In every other regard it's sad too.
>>388424669
Almost all games on the /v/core list are 10 or more years older than /v/ itself. The list doesn't get updated because no good games are being made.
>>388425281
This is blatantly moronic and untrue. But thank you for illustrating the that the "whole people around /v/ don't actually talk about videogames anymore, they just circlejerk how above everything they are" angle I was going after.
>>388424669
That's because there are way less great wRPGs and good games in general nowadays compared to 1990-2010.
Games like Witcher 3 were technically added to the core with the constant praise it got on /v/. As did Bloodborne and many others.
>>388421978
played it for the first time last year, definitely doing a replay this october
>>388425565
Less? Maybe.
But there is plenty of good games being made. We don't see them, mostly because we are trapped in incredibly jadded, angsty attitude.
As for games like TW3: the reality is that for ever person uncritically praising it, there is two uncritically harping on it, while all people who are actually CAPABLE of rational judgement don't ever dare to mention the fucking game since it unavoidably leads to complete and utter shitstorms.
I'd also argue that it's a bit too early to judge whenever it's a real masterpiece that can withstand the test of time, but that is another matter.

Shitposting was always a thing. Sure, it's bigger now with all the tryhard reddit refugees (I'm looking at you T_D) that think 4chan is only about bashing things and never enjoying anything.
But the Witcher 3 gets constant praise and discussion threads on /v/. IIRC when it came out it topped a poll of "best game of [something]" on /v/. It was and remains extremely popular. When people are looking for great wRPGs, witcher 3 is one of the first mentions I see.
My point is, don't let the shitposting blind you to the actual good content on /v/. Even 3x3 threads can act as a way of discussing and recommending games to others. Many recent RPGs are included on those lists. And you sure as hell shouldn't be afraid to mention a game because it might attract shitposters, or you're contributing to the problem. Posting in the right threads (i.e. non-bait OP) is the trick to digging out good discussion.
>>388425695
it's good
too bad it's pretty fucking broken so it's not perfect
>>388421978
Pic not related?
>>388426496
Drog (the guy responsible for the unofficial patch) had an ambitious project to rebalance and expand the game, giving player full control of follower builds etc.
Too bad he's a fucking diva who always takes 10 year long breaks from modding.
>>388421978
i was able to...enjoy/tolerate it until i finally found the nosferatu . i just lost interest by that point.
>>388422295
>>388426420
>Shitposting was always a thing.
Sure. But it was not the MAIN POINT of this board. Nowdays, it is. It's something that was tolerated as annoying necessary evil, a byproduct of actually somewhat meaningful discourse.
Nowdays, shitposting is the point, the entire focus of the board, and any piece of actual meaningful discussion is a byproduct of the shitposting machine.
I think that is a pretty damn major change.
>>388426675
Didn't he explicitly say he wasn't going to touch anything other than bugs and cut content?
>>388427057
He was supposed to work with the Ruskies who made Arcanum Multiverse.
Does someone have the pic of what you needed to install+beginner tips?
Is the GOG version+unofficial patch enough or are there some other mods that are recommended?
>>388428524
Here, but it's probably outdated by now.
What you need to know is that the GOG version is pre-patched with the unofficial patch; meaning you don't have to install anything. Just install and play. Unlike the steam version.
It's pre-patched with the basic version of the UP, which is just bug fixes. Once you've finished the game, it might be worth installing the unofficial patch on top and selecting the plus version, which adds restored content. Then after you've seen everything in the game you could try the Clan Quest Mod which adds some new quests that aren't vomit inducing. That's about it.
