Junior seems to go back and forth. A bit of both? He knows Spawny's weak point, which can trigger his "talent" despite the visor being partially to blame. He kind of cares for him, enough to name him but at the same time, he uses him. Maybe he mellows out and tries to take better care of it as the game goes, but still takes advantage of his power.

Compare the personality of Mario from the start through the early seventh generation of games to:

Mario's universe has such a fucking flat and sterile presentation in all of those games. Even though some of them are genuinely good games like 3D Land and World or Luigi U, they're all purely mechanically enjoyable because the Mario world has become so dull, it's the same tunes, same visuals, same artstyle, same characters, same situations, same everything except for mechanics at this point.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon might have the closest thing to old school Mario personality out of all modern games and even then they fucking sterilized the fuck out of the ghost designs.

So how do you guys think reviews are gonna look? Very positive reception at E3, and every preview I've seen has been glowing. Early reactions the full game are also positive.

Guessing 8s and 9s, Metacritic will be mid 80s or so. Only way it could be lower is if the game drops the ball near the end or reviewers just don't like the Rabbids.

Rabbids immediately remove 5% from the score (realistically I'd say 10%, but we'll be nice).
The fact that it's simplified and streamlined will take away more from the score than give to it, as the people most interested in this game are those who want a bit of a challenge - remove another 5% or so.
The fact that it doesn't really do anything new or push the genre in any real way also would reduce the overall critical score by ~5% or so.

So we're looking at a solid 75% score.

Now here's the thing - it's on the switch.

Colorful games with retro characters just do better on the switch.

Take Sonic Mania - the exact same game on every console (with a few extra bugs and a single instance of lag in the Switch version)
