Hello. I'm the best 3d Mario game of all time.
*farts*
>>388353859
No.
>>388354147
>24 out of 120 shines blocked behind these shitty collectables
DEFEND THIS
In 50 years everything you love is going to be irrelevant.
Had it not been for the blue coins, you would be the best 3D Mario.
>>388353859
It had like, half the levels 64 had. Major step down.
>>388354397
But twice the fun
>>388353859
It's the Sonic CD of the Mario series, so no.
>>388353859
agree
64 > Sunshine > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1
>>388354909
Aw hell no
>>388355675
Galaxy is overated shit
>>388353859
That doesn't mean a lot
>>388354483
questionable
>>388353859
>hi, I was born in 1997
good to know
>>388353859
oops sorry guys i meant to post this image, my mistake
>>388353859
Hello, I'm about to take your reign as the best 3D Mario of all time.
>>388354308
>30 fucking blue coins in each level
>some blue coins are exclusive to certain episodes - especially for select missions of Noki Bay
>no way of telling which you got and which you lack in those exclusive missions.
I had 119 shines forever until I went back 10 years later to try again and find the 3 coins I didn't have in Noki Bay
>>388355935
you have to be over 18 to post here
Its the best 3D platformer ever in regards to the feel and abilities of the character
too bad the game and levels surrounding him suck
>>388355795
You're a goddamn contrarian the Galaxy games are some of the most creative platformers of all time
>>388356112
>he likes a newer game !
>m-must be underage!
>>388356473
It's linear garbage filled with gimmicks
>>388356391
I wouldn't go so far as to say the game around Mario "sucks", I quite liked the tropical atmosphere, and the Secrets were great.
But yeah, if we could just get Sunshine's movement and controls in something closer to 64, that would be perfect.
>>388353859
The level design in general really let this game down.
>Only a few levels
>Lots of lame missions
>blue coins
>plaza missions
>lack of nonlinearity fucks up replayability (have to beat mission 7 in each stage to unlock final area)
When the game is good it's great, but too few missions allow the game toshine
>>388356950
>Linear
So what
>Gimmicks
Oh wow the game is trying to keep variety while it still having a focus on the main gameplay with minor exceptions
You know what sunshines gimmick is? Being boring as fuck how's that for a gimmick
>>388353859
>awful music (save for 2 songs: Delfino Plaza and the Secret Stages)
>ugly npcs
>bad level design overall, Gelato Beach is nothing, Sirena Beach turns to shit when you unlock the bland Ghost Hotel, Pinna Park is an eyesore, other levels have a samey tropical theme
>zero freedom: you have to beat 7 missions in each stage to get to Bowser
This game was fucking compost, they wasted a great control scheme on it.
>>388357187
>lack of nonlinearity fucks up replayability (have to beat mission 7 in each stage to unlock final area)
can you explain why you feel this way in more detail?
I know you have to do each mission in order for each area, but you can go between areas in whatever order you want (once you unlock them). No different from SM64 locking parts of the castle off until you reach arbitrary requirements. Plus you can mix it up and do the Delphino Plaza ones. It never felt linear to me.
And even so, how does that "hurt the replayability"? Like any platforming game, it's only gonna consist of the levels. It's not like an RPG where you can do different builds, what sort of replayability are you looking for here?
>>388355936
Mario's face is too jiggly
1/10
>>388357951
In SM64, I can pick whichever stars I want to beat the game. Unless I'm going for 100% (which is also hell in SMS due to the blue coins and plaza shines) I'm pretty much always going to get a different mix of stars, not merely the same ones in different a different order.
>>388354308
>collectables in a platformer
what's bad about it? it makes the game highly replayable, gives more incentive to explore and you don't have to collect a single coin to beat the game if you don't want to
>>388355985
>no way of telling which you got and which you lack in those exclusive missions
They actually had a counter for each level, like xx/30 when you look on the map. But yeah, no way to tell otherwise. I just found that out a few years ago.
>>388358206
wait, you mean you play SM64 and don't get 120 stars every time?
I didn't know people did that, my b.
But "this game gives me the option to skip parts of the game" doesn't really sound like a compliment, imo. If the game was good, you'd want to play every last bit of it.
>>388354316
Who cares?
>>388358562
I like to do it a different way every time, but that's just me.
Like I said, SMS is way worse than SM64 if you actually are interested in going for 100%.
>>388353859
I agree
>>388354147
your fault for 100% the game.
