The first part of the move puts you in a stance where inputing directions will fire a small projectile in that direction. Second part of the move is to either "draw" a triangle or a pentagram by pressing the directions. In fact, trying to do a regular motion gives you shit. It isn't really that hard in practice, though since you are more or less a sitting duck, you need to input it fast.
