If that's why then really I don't care. I love the game regardless, and if someone has replied to me with this I have tried to assert a personal opinion, not some sort of ranking or "objective" rating for the whole human race.
I can certainly say that's a prime reason why I prefer Sonic 2 over other 2D sonic titles (haven't played Mania yet), but it doesn't make it less valid.

I have to agree with this. Mostly because allot of NES games were simple and did what they did well, (granted there was allot of shit too don't get me wrong) while the N64 and PS1 have allot of awkward stuff going on, even in the beloved games, mostly because that Era was gaming's puberty.
