I finally started playing with my co-workers who have been bugging me about it, it's ok. Gunplay needs work, it needs optimized, but the idea is fun. I really appreciate that it doesn't have any RPG elements or progression and is just a blank slate every game. I hate how modern games try to shoehorn it in to everything.

I wish my friends wouldn't always use auto mode though, it is so much easier with single shot.

Any game that gives people preferential treatment because they stream themselves playing it on a third party website is a shit game. Bonus points for this being just another Battle Royale game and having microtransactions in it even though it's still in Early Access and is generally a buggy piece of shit.

I bought it and played it, but it ran like garbage on my computer, even on super low settings, so I played ~3 games of it and then got a refund.

If I could run it decently it would be my go-to time-waster game.

Shadows on ultra is going to rape anyone's performance. Hell, BF1's shadows are still blurry as pixelated on ultra while PUBG's medium shadows aren't.

I got a question and I'm not trying to make you sound like a retard, but do you know what a sniper is in the game? You pick up bolt action or semi-automatic rifles and you find a long range scope separately (often times along with it) in a care package, they don't have the scopes attached typically apart from the VSS which hardly qualifies as a sniper rifle. When I first played, I expected to pick up more scoped ones since the VSS had it, but you have to be lucky and get that 8x.

Yeah, it's a shame. I instantly disregarded H1Z1: King of the Hill because of its association with a zombie game, but now I have 110 hours in PUBG despite it being almost the same game. The last thing I want is fucking Metal Gear to be zombies, a Battle Royale mod would be incredible though with all those movement options.

This was bound to happen as it shoots to the top of Steam stats. I don't feel like it's going to last up there forever, but it certainly ain't flavor of the month either. So far, they're actually updating regularly too. Remains to be seen if this will be abandoned, but I'd like to hope the insane success of it keeps it developed, unlike DayZ standalone coming along when DayZ was already old news.

I played from May to July but in late July (after ~70 hours of play) I started to lose interest. Winning chicken dinners in all game modes was probably the turning point, as the winning strategy is pretty boring to achieve.

I did come back ever so briefly to try out first person mode, which is pretty good, but that same update broke the game for my friend and we couldn't play duos. The Uaz and Dacia models were borked for him and he couldn't drive, or be driven in them, which basically meant any game of duos we started, we'd almost always lose to the circle unless we found a buggy or bike. He uninstalled, checked file integrity, reinstalled, nothing.

I might play the monthly updates just to see what's up, but I don't want to deal with the bugs and lack of polish anymore.

It's alright, when I first played too I said the same thing "Why can't I find a fucking sniper rifle?"
But yes, the Kar98 bolt action is the most common sniper rifle. You need to find it, and then also hope you find a nice scope. SKS is the semi automatic sniper rifle but again, needs the scope to really be one. It's pretty good at mid-range too though.
The Kar98 and SKS are found in many places, the rest of them are care package only which is why you rarely see them.

What is there to talk about? You pick a town that no one else will go to, loot up, find a car, drive into an area of the circle you think no one will be and stay hidden/don't fire until there are 15 or so players left. Then you win. Rinse & repeat.

There is nothing else to this game unless you want to steam market speculate.

Sometimes you get lucky and the drop pretty close and you're already in a vehicle driving so you say "fuck it" and go for it. You can also pop some smoke on it and loot it if you want.
Kar98 is a one-hit kill if it's a headshot, unless you're shooting at a level 3 helmet, then it takes two. So it's certainly one hell of a sniper rifle if you can land a headshot. The AWP and M24 I think are one-hit kills in the head no matter what, I think. The Mk12 is automatic, but it's basically a semi-auto with that small magazine. It's comparable to the SKS, but better.

No? All scopes can go on all rifles, with the exception of the Groza, which can only use 4x or smaller.

I usually role SKS or Kar98k and an M4 or AK47 and the scopes are interchangeable.

It is the front pieces and stock pieces that are weapon type unique (with the exception of the S12 which can use AR mods)
