What did Cleveland Mark Blakemore, the developer of Grimoire, mean by this?

This game is everything I wanted it do be.

GameStar reviewer Sascha Penzhorn described the game as "ugly", "unfinished", "low-quality", "counter-intuitive", "buggy", "terribly balanced", "lame", "broken", "lacking atmosphere", and "hostile to its users" while criticising the absence of voice acting in dialogues and the lack of a German translation. In summary, he stated that "Grimoire deserves no pity just because it's an indie game", awarding a score of 30/100. [11][12]

Rock, Paper, Shotgun writer Alec Meer posted an article covering his attempt to write a review, which he said failed due to the game's "grind, the desperately cumbersome user interface or the sound that makes me want to throw my speakers into the sea", its "timelost inaccessibility", and its lack of alt-tab support.[2] Due to the difficulty in taking screenshots, the article was partially illustrated with promotional images, and the game had to be restarted due to updates making savegames unusable. The article, while noting that Grimoire "successfully creates the illusion of an enormous world filled with mysteries and secrets", came to the conclusion that the core design elements of the game were "monstrously wrong-headed", "desperately cumbersone", "arduously clicky", "doggedly DOSian", "hideously drawn-out", "crazily tough", "hateful", and comparable to mental torture.[2]

In all seriousness Clive's insanity and sheer autism was amusing enough for a while but I feel like it's getting overdone now because it's clear the guy really is in fact legit crazy. He's not some huge corp fucking over something I care about, he's just one sad delusional autist who has sunk a ton of time into making his dream sperg, and hell he even got something shipped for real. the thing is, even when you take grimoire in the context of the old-school games that it's supposed to be an example of (your wizardries, might and magics, bard's tales, &c), it's still crap

if you put grimoire in a time machine and threw it on the shelves next to these games, it would be getting worse reviews than it is today, because no one would be giving it the benefit of the doubt for being "uncompromisingly old school" or whatever

To be clear anon I definitely don't feel a single iota bad for him. He's a crazy person of the jackass variety. But while his level of autism and ability to actually ship something that can be concretely evaluated/mocked is unusual, being bad-crazy on the internet is not. Here's how the whole thing went down: felipepepe released a review on RPGCodex, shitting on the game (lying about missing features that aren't missing) because he and Infinitron dislike Cleve. Then a German site and two other sites basically copied his review because why would game journalists actually try to play the game in 2017, then his review was removed from wikipedia (wikipedia editors are RPGWatch people who hate Codex and anything associated with it), and replaced with "professional" reviews that are his review restated in their words.

So basically now you have the "public opinion" that the game doesn't have a right click button and trogs can't be defeated (they're trivial if you cast one single spell during the battle), and all that shit.

It's basically like Gamergate.

Another thing was the reputable sources policy and the no original research rule. Where the subject of the article itself isn't considered reputable. If you want to write that Book A has Character X in it, the book itself isn't proof enough. Actually reading said book is original research. You have to find a review or a news article stating what you want to write or ding dong bannu.

Don't give this guy your money. There are multiple accounts of him slandering paying customers and insinuating that they pirated the game or stole keys. Also, when you run into bugs -- and you will, be prepared to walk on egg shells when asking him for help.
